It's difficult to answer this appropriately, and not prudent to answer it inappropriately...0 -
Yep ,maybe I worded that wrong
Which ride did I enjoy the most better?

Did you go all the way with the 'lady'?Cycling weakly0 -
Nope, I didn't try. I'm not sure that in my present state of mind I'd handle getting knocked back that well.
I met the lady a couple of weeks ago in my local. I did spend the better part of the evening talking to her. it was loud and I caught her friends name but due to noise (and my hearing isn't great thanks to a perforated eardrum) I didn't catch hers.
Well it turns out we do have a lot in common, hence we talked so long. One thing I did like is that she wanted to cycle more and is doing the L2B with some friends. Alas she's not ridden much and she was concerned about the distance, so I offered to go out riding with her. She and her friend both took my mobile no. but I neglected to take theirs....doh
Anyways on Thursday night I went into the pub for a pint and the lady in question came in with a friend (male) She spotted me propping up a bar stool and said she still wanted to ride. So Sunday morning she text me to organise it.
After we got back from the ride, she came by the flat for a cuppa and we chatted for 90 mins or so before I escorted her home. It was really nice having some female company, it sort of made me feel semi-normal again that a very pretty woman actually wanted to spend time with me.
it may come to nothing but it lifted my mood a hellova lot and at this point I'm up for as much of that feeling as I can get.
I'm trying to be positive and be strong(and not drink too much)
I know I'm going to be up and down a lot with this Depression cr@p but I'm gonna make it, if not for me, for my kidsThe universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

So, Flash, how are things with you?
BJB0 -
Still alive and kicking thanks.
I'm adjusting to being alone most of the time, I don't like it at all but I'm adjusting *sigh
On an even keel 90% of the time, but I have bad episodes now and again. Last night was utter hell but made it through and I'm okay today.
I've not had an uninterupted nights sleep since all this kicked off in March, so I guess that's wearing me down. I almost dozed off looking at a large spreadsheet yesterday at work zzzzzzz (and I like that stuff)
My kids come and see me regularly so that's nice.
I'm coaching a lady-friend to get her ready for her L2B twice a week. I've mentioned this on another thread. So far it's purely platonic, though by what I mouthed off in a non-sober stupor on Friday night in the pub, I'm pretty sure she knows that I like her.
I'm taking it as it comes and trying to keep my head above water. Not always easy, but I have to give it my best shot for my kids sake. The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

I've been cycling more now than ever given all the free time I now have. It helps I think. It's better than sitting in my flat alone.
Only downside to that is that all the increased milage is increasing the wear & tear on the steed. Broken spoke & buckled rim last night, broken gear shift cable last week.
At least if it was a car it would cost a hellova lot more. The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

Nothing wrong with letting a gal know you like her.....they say the quickest way to a womans heart is to make her laugh
Sounds like you are getting plenty of miles in too, which is great.

Well it didn't scare her off and she still came back to the flat after the Sunday ride for a cuppa.

This cr@p gets worse.
I got a call today from my sons college. Aparently my son had left "suicidal comments" on his Facebook page yesterday. One of his friends saw it and was so worried, that he/she went and told a school counsellor and they called me at work.
I phoned him and he seems okay and he's coming around tomorrow after college to discuss his feelings/problems.
He doesn't want me to speak to his mother about this, but I'm in two minds whether to or not.The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

speak to him 1:1 first, then decide, be non committal if he asks you to keep it to yourself, you don't know if mum's going to find out anyway via another concerned fb friend letting something slip. Big thing is to find out whats at the bottom of it first, present circumstances accepted, but this may have just been the last straw or nothing to do with it or it may even have been his way of trying to push you back together again that he's suddenly seen through as a bit drastic and wants to forget happened.
you're in a good position with depression (likewise) to be able to talk him through and to see the silver lining rather than the big black cloud if its a heartfelt attempt or you may have to talk straight to him about your split if its a cry for help/attention.
tell him you love him and go from there, fingers crossed for you.0 -
Thanks shouldbeinbed
Yep, I'm probably an expert on the feelings he's experiencing so I can relate.
I tell my kids I love them now more than I ever have thesedays, so I suppose that something good has come out of this mess. The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

Thanks guys
I think he's going to be okay. We spent a couple of hours together and he left fairly upbeat. I was able to see myself at that age and relate to him.
I also told him that if I could I would swap me for him as he has so much ahead of him and I was envious. No "Freaky Friday" moment happened but I think he got my meaningThe universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

Good news Flash.
Hope you both had a good weekend.0 -
Matthew went to a party on Saturday night. By all accounts he had a god time. His mother tpld me that he was a tad hungover so as a father I made a VERY loud phone call to him to ask if he enjoyed himself.
I don't encourage teenagers drinking but as he hardly ever touches the stuff I didn't see the harm in buying him a pack of Smirnoff Ice for his party.
Me....I had a FANTASTIC weekend :twisted:The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

I should add that my counselling sessions are now finished. We only have 4 sessions paid for by work. It did open my eyes to a lot of things about me and the relationship that I had with my Ex. Yes it was worth going and I do feel it helped.
I'm finding my feet now. I'm making new friends in my local and I'm getting a social life.
I walk into the place and everyone says hi, the barmaids all know me by my first name etc.
In fact I'm starting to enjoy being single. I can go and do whatever I want whenever I want. If I feel like riding 40 miles to Bournemouth and back after work like my cycling buddy and I did last night..I bl00dy well can. That was great fun actually. Fish and chips on the seafront then ride back and stop at the pub for a pint.
Personal life.
My female cycling friend and I are now an item.
