    Kleenex!!! Now!!!!!

Mind you, a classic red-with-white-bands would be better...

It's just a hill. Get over it.
  • Hmm that Orca is quite nice but I'm also quite smitten with the Trek Madone Project One custom that was in C+ this month, but only because the custom paint job on it is in the same style as my tattoos :-)

Meh. With that downtube it looks like it's been crashed into something head-on at speed...

I like the Orca but it would look better with an SLR saddle

    Never - it's aerodynamic beauty! :)

That Orca is a nice shape but it needs a bit of colour to avoid being an accountants bike. Oh, hang on....

+1, a classic steel frame with thin tubes is a thing of beauty, my old 531 fixie frame feels every bit as good as any carbon bike I've ridden. I don't like that Orca, the tube profiles just look wrong, and I really don't like the current vogue for wrapping the headtube and BB areas in so much carbon they look swollen and distended

Errr, if you go to Mike Perry's Maestro website you could get that. Plus it would still be the best looking bike in this thread.

Would love the matt black EPS. The Orca is lush but the Colnago, well its a Colnago.

Oh,you've ruined it now. I'm trying to find a reason to disagree, but you're right. It should be chrome at least instead of gold.

That Colnago was vulgar in the "jewel-encrusted-thong" kinda way.

A bike should be sleek sexy and simple. I like fancy tube shapes and the muscular look but still garish colours is not on - especially real gold.

Yup, I now realise I was quite wrong about this bike. I do still like the frame shape, and I'll always be partial to fancy lugs (we all have our little peccadilloes), but the gold looks more tacky every time I look at it.

Oh dear. I saw sparkly things and got all carried away. Still i wouldn't kick it out of my bike shed. If it's tasteful you're after, then I quite like some of the pictures on Robin Mather's website.

I'll have to agree to disagree with you on Moultons. Fantastic bits of (British!!!) engineering, and to my mind gorgeous. As for lattice frames- at least they're interesting, trying something a bit different, no idea if they actually work in practice or not.

One of the things I don't like about swoopy carbon (or hydroformed alu) frames is the way the rear brake cable cuts across under the top tube. If you're going to go all curvilinear for at least partly aesthetic reasons, I think you need to hide that cable - shouldn't be too difficult with a bit of internal sleeving/routing.

I'm inclined to agree with the view that a gold Colnago Master's a bit naff. Nicer (much nicer) in other colours. As for Colnago's carbon models, 'Meh', frankly. A C50 owner I know says that as happy as he is with it (and it is a thing of beauty indeed), it's not as nicely put together as the C40 he had before (frame broke in a RTA), and less elegant. He thinks the newer models are no better than rebadged other makes (and most of the frames are being built in the same factories, of course). I agree- they just look like everyone else's...
For me, off-the-peg carbon would be an Orbea, BMC, or a Storck. Bespoke carbon- you know who. Or for metals an Enigma, Van Nicholas or equivalent. Plus a Moulton.
