Killiard lane is the best car park ,it's right at the top of the woods.
For us, the best place to park is our house then it's no climb to get home ...there's not a big climb for us to get there either
Caz xx0 -
the billinge woods bit is the big space at the top of Witton Park....google doesn't show it for some reason, you can probs see it better using the streetview thing.
Caz xx0 -
Found it Caz..ta.
Will have to have a blast round there when its all sorted, how far from you is it ?2001 Cove Stiffee FR

Afternoon all!
7 hour, 38 miles ride around Afan forrest Yesterday. Did the Skyline trail but missed a turn off and did 5 miles going the wrong way before we realised! :? Had to trek back (mostly uphill) to the correct turn off point.
2 falls (both me and Tammy), 1 puncture (Tammy), and 1 over the bars (Tammy).
Will post a link to some vids later.
Ready for Cannock now!!
Hope you all having a good weekend!0 -

Sounds like you got plenty of practise in then guys......it's easy to miss a turn off when flying along and enjoying yourself.........hope Tammy is ok after the over the bar stunt.
Went out myself earlier on and clocked around 30 miles of riding on mostly off-road tracks.....got to keep the legs spinning even though there aren't any hills around here i can get a good run traffic-free.
Look forward to your vids later.........'8)'2001 Cove Stiffee FR

Afternoon
I'm still hurting a little but will be fine for next weekend. It takes more than flying over the handle bars to keep a northerner down0 -
Skyline vids here ->>> http://www.vimeo.com/11593433 http://www.vimeo.com/11594246 http://www.vimeo.com/11596296
Tammy was fine apart from a few bumps and bruises.
GPS data http://connect.garmin.com/activity/32699819 for anyone interested in that sort of stuff.0 -
Cool vids guys.......i noticed how far down the drops were on the valley sides, the trail was literally on the edge.
Quite a lot of it was on the valley sides.....and it looked pretty good with a lot of the trail looking 'natural' around the valley.
Couidn't agree with you more on your comment about northerners Tam...am one meself.
Looking forward to meeting you both at cannock....only a week to go......':D'2001 Cove Stiffee FR

Went to Thetford today with some randoms from another forum, was a pretty good ride!
Some cheeky little parts on the trails! They got nothing on Cannock though...0 -
12ish miles locally today. Apart from the short climb up the old pit top it's flat as fook but it beats the alternatives.....1998 Marin Hawk Hill

Yeah some steep drops if you go over the edge. The Skyline trail loops around from one side of the valley to the other and back again. Some long stretches of forest road and long sections of singletrack. Its not as popular as the other trails at Afan due to its distance and the amount of forest road in between sections. We only saw 3 other mtbers all day. First time we have done this trail and would recommend it if you want a longer endurance type ride with some techy bits thrown in. The most technical bits come in the last three sections....as you are starting to feel fatigued....to try and catch you out!

Nice ride today round the local woods, and had a good nosey at the new trail thats being built and I can't wait to ride it...even more so now that I know there's a chicken run instead on the nearly 2 foot drop!
It's like a very condensed Coed Y Brenin with gritstone not slate lol

Trail photos ...from the bottom of the trail to the top, I walked from the bottom, so the pics are from there to the top

I'll get the vids on Sat...it's a tricky bugger with a few of my pet "can't do's" which are steep short drops downhill.... I can't let go enough so end up getting half way down then getting off

You wont know till you try it Caz.....get yer bum behind the saddle and keep arms relaxed not tense...when yer front wheel gets to the bottom let the bars come up to yer chest and you will roll it nicely...try it slowly.2001 Cove Stiffee FR

I had a short steep drop pointed out to me today off the side of the pit top. Smooth surface, just a little steep with a couple of direction changes on the way down. Didn't attempt it today but watch this space.....1998 Marin Hawk Hill
