That is freaky - I just updated my blog about a ghost bike that recently disappeared and at the same time you post this. Maybe ghosts borrow them from time to time...

The earth being round did contradict what was the laws of physics back then. Once upon a time the laws of physics stated that the universe revolved around the earth, the laws of physics used to dictate that if a man were to travel at speeds of over 10mph then he would die.
I'm just saying that just because our current understanding of something says it can't happen, doesn't mean it can't happen......keep an open mind.0 -
i do but you quoted misunderstandings and not laws of physics, which are now pretty well established.0

Er no, we're talking peer tested Newtonian Physics here, not psuedo-quasi religeous or cultural anomolies or beleifs. Not everyone beleived the earth was carried on the back of the giant turtle, or the flat earth scenario. Those were localised beleifs, the Mayans thought the earth rotated around the sun iirc, as did the egypsians. :?0 -
If they DID exist - surely Most Haunted would have found one by now - they've had god knows how many shows and no bugger has turned up yet. Why is it still on ? If after XXX shows - if no antiques had turned up after ten seasons of the antiques roadshow - would it still be on tv ?0

Sorry..? WHAT were you watching before the antiques road show..? :P0 -
the point i'm trying to get across is that what I quoted were considered the pretty well established laws of physics of the time. We now know these to be misunderstandings. In 50 / 100 years there might be new well established laws of physics and the people of those days would look back upon us and consider our physics "misunderstandings"
Just to state..... I don't believe in ghosts, apparently (according to my parents) as a young child I saw ghosts, but until I see or experience ghosts in my adult life then I won't believe in them, but I won't say it can't happen0 -

No but they werent even considered laws of physics even back 400 years ago. Its also a commonly held beleif that the Catholic church hated science and tried to subdue it, when infact they encouraged and even paid for it.
The point is Newtonian Physics has been pretty well tested (and is continued to be tested in schools come to think of it). In 100 years what we might see is Unification of the different physics - Newtonian, Quantum and giant interstella.
For earth based objects Newtonian works best.0 -
