Shimano R501 wheels, £72 (I managed to bag a set with an extra 10% off code) delivered:
    http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/wheels-factory-built-wheels-factory-road-tri-shimano-r501-standard-spoke-clincher-wheels-pair/shimwhfr202

Added some decent rim tape, but a massive improvement for my other halfs Trek 1000's stock rims.

Saw a pair go from a private seller on ebay for £72 + £15 P&P!

The quality of Planet X stuff seems to be good. I don't know about the gloves but I bought a pair of neoprene shoe covers last year from them and they lasted last winter fine, and still holding up well.

Anyone else notice that the wiggle dhb pro bib shorts use the same chamois pad as Rapha for 1/3 of the price?

CyTech Elastic Interface Tour Air chamois (cycling pad)

I noticed by chance when putting on some recently purchased Roubaix bibs from Wiggle that the label and feel was almost identical to my Rapha bibs and sure enough the same company makes both, well it would be rude not to take advantage so I just ordered a pair of the Wiggle DHB pro bibs, who knows ...?

I'm going to go for some of the new roubaix bibs and just use them with leg warmers as they seem to use a pretty decent chamois too

Pricematched a Krypronite Evo Mini 5 at Evans. Evans had it for £45 and Parker International do it for £29.55.

The guy said 'that can't be the same one' but with a bit of persuading put it through. Seemed pretty pissed off though.

Looks like the Giro Air (in the DHB race bibs) is almost as good too, just less thick?

The DHB roubaix are very good, warm and the same pad in fact I was wearing these on Thursday when the rabid deer attacked, even crashing onto the rough road surface didnt rip them and I suspect its because of the thickness why my road isnt all that deep or painful.

Fine if you're not fussed about the phone. I wouldn't want to be stuck with an S2 for 2 years, it's already been superseded by the S3. I'm a serial upgraded I'm afraid!

Yeah, I did some sums yesterday based on the S3 and the HTC One S & X and after around 16-18 months the 'buy the phone then get a cheap sim' idea breaks even against a 'free phone' on a contract. After that you're saving money, or you can sell the phone and upgrade.
Yup, SIM only and phone outright works if you can afford the outlay at first. Got my 4S that was and thinking of moving to a Lumia once released. Thinking Apple have gone off the boil.

I just picked up a HTC one x from dial a phone, 20.50 a month and the phone is free. With the phone costing 420+ it works out around 80 pounds for a 2year contract with enough minutes and data to suit me.

Only thing I'm not happy with is not having a pound sign on the keyboard :). Anyone know how to replace the $ sign please feel free to help me out.

You're using the standard HTC sense keyboard and on the numeric screen, on the bottom left of that screen there is a button marked 1/2, press it and you get more numeric characters including the £ symbol.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

That looks very good value - a little dissapointed the brakes are not hydraulic though.

Additionally the picture shows no mudguards but the descriptions says "Kenda 700x32c tyres and full mudguards make this bike hardy to all weathers and any road surface"

Would make a rather good commuting beast eh, assume it would have rack mounting points.

Who does do Hydraulic brakes with sti shifters????

Colnago are experimenting and I think Srams new red groupo has hydraulic calipers. At this price point it's just not in the equation.

There is something drawing me to this bike . . . . but why? I don't need it and it's bloody heavy.

To your point, nobody does a direct hydraulic STI shifter. Formula are working on one that will work with Di2 and Parabox is a system that converts a cable pull to hydraulic with a box at the stem but both systems will cost as much as this entire bike. And, ironically, the challenge with hydraulic brakes is not getting too much power (the Formula system will be designed for 140mm front discs as standard). Frankly I'm very happy with the BB7s on my Volagi

Hydraulics will only become affordable once the cyclocross market has sorted itself out and come up with a good solution (not some botch job box under the stem)n and then it trickles down into the lower groupsets. As you point out, on a road bike it's not really necessary anyway.

The point I was trying to make was, why be disappointed about the charge bike not having hydraulics? Looks like a great bike for silly money.

Apologies, this is not an area I have looked into much, merely that I know how much I like the hydraulic comparitively poor spec brakes on my hardtail, and having seen CX bikes pop up with disc brakes wrongly assumed that they were employing hydraulic as opposed to mechanical ones.

I did not know there was an issue, or complete non availability of sti levers with hydraulic disc brakes.

I was led to believe that mechanical discs were not much better than conventional brakes, but the Avid's seem to get very good reviews, so I guess that was either wrong, or is no longer the case - either way I have never ridden a bike with mechanical discs so have zero personal experience.

I notice it does not mention the weight of the bike, is it really that heavy then?

It's too heavy I don't want one. I know I'm lying to myself, I like the look of that for the price.

Are these much different from the Aeron Pros?

Looking to stock up with a couple more pairs of shorts for commutes / mid-distances and these look ideal...don't want to go and buy some only to find out I'd have been better off buying the next 'model' or two up in the long run.

Well I don't own a pair but I know some members here do. I am also interested as I was going to invest in a pair of more expensive and warmer Vaeon's.

For £24 I wouldn't expect a lot, but they should be ok for commuting and for 1 to 2 hour jaunts on the bike.

Nah, Pitchshifter needs to MTFU. i was toasty warm in my mitts this morning in Richmond. Or maybe he left for work at 3am or summat?

Good spot on the gloves though- ordered a pair of one of the other types of PRO gloves (they've got loads of cheap gloves on that site atm) for when it actually gets cold in a couple of months.
