What did you expect ? It can't be a thick material otherwise its not going to breathe. All shakedry kit is like that. It's the material you want so I don't see why you'd buy Rapha over other versions.

Yeah, the cuts differ - I ended up buying the castelli version because I found the Gore one too baggy. No idea how the Rapha one shapes up, but its kinda irrelevant to me as I'm sorted now

I appreciate it's twice as much but IMO the Ultegra 8020 shifters and calipers at £320 as part of the same offer are a much better deal than the 505s.
505s are big ugly things with poor shifting and a known flaw with the cable guides wearing through.

The 8020s fixed all these things, which was carried forward to 7020 105 too. Under this offer, the Ultegra is actually less than 105.

Bugger - mine is not flat mount. Would it still be worth getting for just the levers and connecting up to my current calipers? They are BR785 (I have ST505 at the moment) - would it work?

Yep, that'll work fine. Most of the Shimano stuff is cross compatible.

Yes, you might need new hoses depending on the connections at the levers or callipers but post mount callipers and road levers work. My set-up is R7020 levers and M7000 callipers with BH90 hoses.

Twice in the past 2 weeks I have had to abandon a ride due to just getting too wet.
Once with a perfetto and once with a bioracer
Rapha classic winter jacket or goreactive or dhb-aeron-rain-defence-polartec-jacket
both the rapha and dhb claim to be waterproof but also seem to indicate that a full hardshell will offer more protection ? the shakedry is out due to sometimes wearing a rucksack

Can you not get a bar bag (PX were doing one for £10) or a big under saddle pack to replace the rucksack maybe ?

Nothing will work for you with a rucksack on the back - it will press water into your back as well as make your back sweaty.

I've stopped taking a rucksack to and from work each day, have trousers, shirts and shoes at work and take underwear in every 5 or so days. Feels remarkably liberating without the rucksack !!!
