Does annoy me that they call it a 'Race' when it has a head tube you could fit a flag to the top of.

Hmm, i'd promised myself I wouldn't moan about this.

Also annoying that Shimano are only producing reasonably priced road hydraulics in flat mount - cutting out a huge swathe of potential upgrades.

Hope RX4 and a post mount adapter? Not as low profile I give you.

Edit: Ooh, they now come in flat mount!

£5 postage seems a little steep though and pay to return. How nice is the Stormshield?
  • If anyone lives near Bagshot, Spokes of Bagshot are doing 30% off everything in store over the weekend. Was just in there this morning and nearly spent a small fortune.

Managed to buy something at full price instead

I've honestly got no idea. Yep, $£5 pnp does feel steep in todays age, but it would still be cheaper than I've seen a gabba.

Given their model name, isn't is rather odd that these tyres seem to have a reputation for a lack of grip in wet weather?

The other thing I picked up on reviews was they are often a pig to install, because of how flat they come packaged, the bead does not like re-shaping to sit in rim wells!

But on the plus side, especially with latex tubes, reviewers loved their comfort... I'd be wary of using them outside dry summer days.

I wanted to love them but they gave me the worst hour or so ever on the bike. Getting them to fit in the first place was awful, as you say, they don't sit easily. Getting them to be round was hard work. But, 2 flats later, I got them on.

Rode to work. All seemed ok with the world.

On way home, stuck in a sprint, bang. Blowout, not a puncture. Wasted a tube trying to sort it, same issue as initially. Finally got another in. Did 400 yards, bang, blowout.

User error? Possibly, but I've never struggled since.

I'm not being fair really as it's not the same tyre but I've got the lower spec 60TPI "normal" clincher version and they're lethal. Grip is appalling.

What's the biggest you've comfortably used on that frame Matt_N?
The 25mm gatorhardshells I have on my archetype rims are probably going to check out one of these days.

I've got a pair of Archetypes too and 25mm Corsa SC were a bit tight under the fork crown so I swapped to 23mm.

I've also got a pair of Zipp 303 tubulars with 25mm Corsa Elites that fit fine, just about to swap those to Gatorskin Sprinters are the rear Elite has a crow foot puncture.

But if anyone's in the market for a decent mid range phone, there's the Honor 9 for £280 at John Lewis. They were closer to £300 just before Xmas

That's a decent price - have you bought one yourself?
I have an Honor 7 at the moment, bought a pair for myself and my gf 2 years ago, my gf's died in the summer, and Amazon refunded it, so we got her an LG something or other, and I thought mine was dying too recently, as it was munching through the battery, at a rate of 10% per hour - it seems to have gotten over itself, but at the time I was lookin for a replacement option, as could like have gotten it refunded, but now it's outside of the warranty period.
Tempted by this, but I struggle to replace phones when thy are still working, and I'd rather spend the money on cycling stuff 8)

I tend to hang onto phones and look after them pretty well, my last (and first) smart phone, was a Samsung Galaxy S2 I think it was, but have been impressed with the progress on the Honor 7 - bagged them on Mazon for circa £200 each. Could never bring myself to spend the cost of a decent bike on a smart phone.

Mmm. A new phone is sort of due for me, but then I looked at the battery replacement procedure and it involved a heat gun and careful separation.

    Not for me in short.

Is there somewhere you can search for phones that match criteria IE user replaceable battery, water resistant, microsd storage etc?

Excellent prices for the Lusso Aqua Repel jackets at Vanilla Bikes. Both 50% off. Always fancied one of the Extreme jackets but can't really justify it after picking up my R&D Strato - different I know, but can't afford another!

Cheers gents - also found I can get 5% off through work, which would bring it down to £265. However my 7 is still running well, at 2 years old, so I am going to have to take the risk, that as and when it dies, there may not be a good deal on the table, but also in a year there might well be a betetr deal, or a better phone out there for similar money, so am going to leave it on this occasion. Was sorely tempted, and put it in the basket even!
