Anyone have experience of these Lezyne lights? Purely on price seems like a good deal but is it a good product?

I have the Mini Drive which works very, very well.
The Super Drive is larger and heavier but also brighter.
It depends on your usage. For use in town, the Mini Drive is more than enough. If you are going on dark roads then the brighter light of the Super Drive may make the weight increase worthwhile.
I have not tried other manufacturers with similar output so I can't comment on value for money but Lezyne products are quality.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

FSA SL-K megaexo compact chainset & bb at £149.99? I'll have one of those. Got a K-Force Light on the race bike and love it and if anything these are rated more highly.

    They've also got K-Force Light stems/bars at £99 each, down from £249/299.

You, sir, are a naughty boy: you just knew that I have an OS99 stem that's been looking for a set of FSA bars to match up with, didn't you? When my missus starts divorce proceedings I'm naming this thread as a mitigating circumstance...:lol:

Handlebar looks like a good deal - not a wing style 'flat top' bar though is it?

Would also appreciate some feedback on this :
I've a triple-XLM Lightmalls light that I purchased last winter as my main light but after recently trying to charge it I now think it's stopped taking a charge grr. I'm now fed up of the cheaper lightsets with separate battery packs as I've been through a number of these now.
The Lezyne products, lights included, do seem to get a good rep : for me the drawbacks with that light are all related to the battery/charging. No separate charger is supplied and it's (internal) battery is only chargeable via USB port on the light.

Alternative I've looked at is something like the Trustfire A8 which uses a bigger 26650 battery and for about £30 you get torch + battery + charger

Does anyone know how wide the FSA bars are at the hoods?

Was going to plump for 3T Ergonovas (picked up the stealth version for £150) - how do these compare?

    Many thanks

Finally my waiting has paid off - I have now given up on a better deal coming about on Ultegra so have decided to get a pair of 105 groupsets for my two CR1's.

Merlin have the black set only it would seem, on offer for £360 - go through quidco and it comes in a shade under £350!

The £350 sold me, the cheapest I was going to get Ultegra was £570, and this is £220 saved towards wheels or what have you.

  • The Proviz sale is reaching the dregs but they have short and long sleeve shirts in men's and women's styles left at £5.49 posted. I appreciate it might not be much use for anyone who isn't a slightly built shortarse like me, as they only seem to have them in S, but that's not much more than the price of a couple of decent lattes

MegaExo fits just fine in the regular BB, certainly mine fitted without any problems.

Width is wrong for the FSA carbon cranks like K-Force Light and SL-K Light (diff from FSA alloy ones which I think are same as Shimano) and you'll have incorrect loading on bearings hence early wear. YMMV I guess.

I'm not sure if that's true, I'm using a carbon SL-K (not the light one), and it seems fine to me. The bearings are fine and the cranks appear to be plenty tight. Mine is, however, one of the newer ones that come with the wobbly-washer. I believe that it's the earlier ones that have trouble in this area.

That said, maybe I was just lucky and the whole bike will explode when I ride it.

I think the non-light SL-K used the original width. FSA definitely sell two varieties of BBs, one for what they label alloy cranksets and one for the SL-K Light and K-Force Light. Had this issue when trying to replace the borked BB on my race bike with K-Force Light, LBS said a standard Shimano one would be fine then came back and said I'd need the FSA 'carbon' one.

The short answer; no, the FSA K-Force Light Rd. Crank is not compatible with a Chris King bottom bracket (made to Shimano compatible dimensions). Also, the K-Force Rd. crankset will not be compatible either.

The FSA BB8200 (meant for K-Force Light) uses a 6 mm width bearing. This allows us to make the bottom bracket outside to outside dimension more narrow providing room for a wave washer. The BB8000 (meant for K-Force) does indeed use a 7 mm width bearing, yet its design does not allow for use of a Chris King bottom bracket.

However our popular alloy cranksets, the Gossamer Rd. and the Energy Rd. is compatible with the Chris King bottom bracket (made to Shimano compatible dimensions). These cranks use BB6000, this BB’s dimensions are compatible with Shimano.

The FSA cranks on Planet X come with a BB though, so if the crank doesn't fit the Shimano one already installed on the Scott frame then the LBS could swop them over...

The BB included is a BSA threaded jobbie though. No good for those of us with press fit BBs.

There's a choice between the BSA threaded and a PF30. (I am of course assuming that PF stands for Push Fit)

    Good call.

Scott (ala the currently favourite CR1 frame) needs a BB86/91 though that takes chainsets with 24mm spindles. PF30 takes BB30 chainsets with 30mm spindles.

They publish the active codes in their customer services pages.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?
