  • Chain Reactions have 10% off everything.

And (unlike wiggle) CRC actually genuinely do mean 'off everything' - I bought some panniers for the new steed (tart) from them yesterday that were 50% off, and a couple of other bits and bobs, and they knocked off another 10% from all my basket contents.

    I heart chain reaction. :D

Two things - BBB Ultraflex overshoes at £21.46. Retail price is £34.95 - Ribble have these at 33% off plus an additional 8 percent this week with the Winter8 clothing discount. I got a pair as the only thing overshoes normally are any good at is falling apart. If these are BBBs toughest, maybe they'll last!

Then my Schwalbe Marathon winter tyre has just arrived. 33 euros and 89 cents delivered; about £27 all in. Unfortunately they seem to be now out of stock (so link below doesn't, today, find the tyres) but, as a German supplier, I bet they will have stock long before the UK does. Actionsports are also a lot cheaper than Bike24 who are now also out of stock; must be some bad weather about  ).

I recently bought the Carradice Carradura panniers. Very nice, good value and made in Britain!

  • I know I shouldn't, but CRC have some really nice deals on BeOne stuff at the moment...

    I really shouldn't.
  • Who the hell are you to tell yourself what to do or not?
  • One for the brave: DealExtreme have a selection of Team Discovery/Trek/Saxo Bank clothing at knock-down prices - what look like the proper tops and bottoms, including pads, and you pay $32-$42 per SET (tops and bottoms)!

Think I'll wait for someone else to take the plunge and report on quality before I go for it.

    Yeah, that's how it starts

Just one packet of Haribo, what harm can it do?

I think the model was a bit small for this kit, either that or it looks like that on everyone.
Clearly fake gear, low lycra percentage etc.

LIDL racing bike reduced to £499

No. Stop laughing and check out the specs. Even if the frame goes in the bin it's still a bargain

Are they the ones with the plastic internals?

The set of Centaur QS 2007 levers I used to have weren't the most reliable
Looked great but after 3 years internals in RH shifter went and gear change lever snapped off on LH shifter

If I still was on Campag I was going to get a pair of Chorus levers to replace them.
But I sold all my Campag drivetrain and I'm now all Shimano except for a headband and a SS jersey :)

Planet X are still doing Athena with alloy chainset at £499. They're now more expensive for the carbon one than Merlin (£575), though they give you the option of 12-27 cassette for the same price (Merlin's 12-25 only). Glad I got mine when I did.

Yeah I've managed to get it to work now. I bought 2 large for myself and a medium for my dad.... Hope they're not too big!

  • Can't beat this surely

Picked up a mint 20" Bokor (eBay) at the weekend for £210. Only bought on September 29th this year. Reason for selling - paint coming off on the top tube as he cycled to work with a massive dlock and chain resting on the top tube.

I wanted one of these for a year or so, and now I've got one. Checked all the tubes and kit and no sign of damage in the critical areas. I'll be hammering it 'til early summer, then off to ARGOS for a new powder coat and poss single speed conversion for the rest of the summer.

    Beautiful. :D

Decided I would get new grips for when I convert to twist shift (flat bars) rather than one lock on and one SRAM shorty, was looking at Titec Pork rinds (much used cut for twisties) as they are light and only about £8.50-£10/pair, then I spotted that the KCNC grips are identical except for the logo (tenner a pair) so looked around a bit more and found Avenir Agg407 grips are also the self same grip with no logo, £5.98 off the bay!

BBB Ultraflex Overshoes from Ribble - £21 with the XMAS 10 promotion; down from £35.

    http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-t ... BBAZOSH220

I posted about these before but now I've had a chance to use them for a few weeks.

This is bonkers value for money. BBB Ultraflex are seriously tough and both waterproof and warm. I've got a size too small (43-44 overshoes for 44 Northwave Celsius) but they cope fine despite the strain of hooking them over my heels (mind, I have another pair of 45-46 in the post so hopefully they'll fit the boots better and I can use the smaller ones on my shoes).

The construction is all seam welded neoprene. The heel section is constructed so the zip isn't under stress when you hook the overshoe over your heel. The only issue in several hundred miles is wear on the section under the toes. This is 3mm neoprene (like most of the overshoe) - it does tear if rubbed along the tarmac so I reinforced mine with sections of inner tube glued on which seem to do the job nicely.

That aside, they are tough as anything. Before I had Endura MT500s which cost much the same as Ribble are charging for the Ultraflex at the moment. The MT500s are a joke in comparison - not in the same league in any way.

Ta for the link. Most impressed by the jacket and the service I received: ordered it yesterday and it arrived this morning.

The jacket comes up rather large but then I wanted it so as I can get a soft shell jacket on under it.

    I have ordered another :D
