Yeah - think there's at least some of us going to be up Peaslake way in Walking Bottom car park. No time yet mentioned but I was thinking a relatively early 1030 start at least since it goes dark so early at the moment.
Should be able to make that or whatever suits people.

Thel33ter is working so I am playing taxi. He's on Saturday afternoon and Sunday day, so with it getting dark early, I might try for Swinley on Sunday from about 10. But will be from the Bagshot side.
Maybe Swinley Sunday, but will see if I get bike bits sorted or still fiddling, *if* Wiggle deliver (they have an hour left today). Though BDJ wanted to do some Surrey Hill downhilling. Not too sure that's wise as it's a super fun mud slide down those trails, or was. I won't be able to do what he'll be doing anyway, not with the steepness of those.

Well, not raining but from what has been raining earlier it's going to be a wet one again.

Are you about in SH tomorrow DK? Do you reckon it'll be too muddy? I think I'll head to the Hills anyway just because I haven't been for so long and if all else fails I can just session BKB I guess! Reckon I can roughly remember where a fe things are but are there any trail maps of the main ones ie Northern Monkey, Wedgie and the other DH stuff online? Is it Winterfold with the run with the jumps and gap at the bottom?

Mud-tastic today, certainly round Pitch. I wouldn't want to do the DH off Pitch, it was a mud slide last week when I tried and couldn't really do much. Not that I can do the gaps anyway. It's much steeper than I remember as haven't done them for a while, but sliding down them makes them feel very different.

Off Pitch is the switchback stuff, Wedgie, the one I tried from the seat with the gaps that I have no idea what is called, and further to the right of Wedgie is a couple more that I don't know the name of. Also apparently far left from the viewpoint is another which is a bit more serious apparently.

Northern Monkey is on Winterfold. Need to climb up to the viewpoint there and just shortly after that it's on the left and immediate right. That's got the series of big jumps and bit of woodwork now. Keep going along the ridge, past and up the other side of Jellies Hollow and you're along the other ridge and to the left somewhere is the one with a few jumps and the drop on that corner you did a photo of once. Keep going along the ridge and you get to the run down Charlie Bronson or whatever, and of course the famous Fly Tipper back up the hill.

No maps, probably look up the stuff on Strava.

Oh and as I've mentioned on FB, Secret Santa is a nice fun run to try. Next to Xmas Pudding but you have to know the entrance. DHillish long run down with a couple of jumps and a gap. Currently also a mud slide.

Anyway, unless I have the energy to crack on with the new cranks, mech and stripping gears on the Nomad, I'll probably do it tomorrow morning. Maybe give it a test run after or maybe not. Nice day though so should be out. Could go with the hard tail but just cleaned that!

Had a massive change of heart and have decided to go to Swinley due to not being arsed to get really muddy. So I'll probably riding the clubhouse runs most of the day if anyone wants in?

  • Didn't make it out today because I'm a lame chump. My ridiculously painful hangover which lasted most of Sat crept into Sunday morning and I over slept. Anyway I hope to make up for it next weekend big time so if anyone wants to go a bit further afield either Sat or Sun then let me know cause I'll be up for it. Was it a good ride at swinley today?

  • Leaves hiding the roots and me learning to go faster are not a good mix. Had a lovely couple of offs today.

Great weather and lovely riding today though. Hopefully more of the same next week!

Wish the bike shop would hurry up and open so I can wash the bike down before I go home. Anyone know why it's shut, or is this a seasonal thing?

  • Going to FoD on Sat with a mate and a group of mixed ability riders so should be fun. There's still about 8 places left if anyone is interested?
  • The bike hire place, sorry, not bike shop.

Would be interested? Yes. Can I go? No. You with your child free lifestyles eh? PLayed on the secret trail a bit yesterday, very cool! Like Dearstalker/Babymaker but a bit more agressive. Have you done that run at swinley?

No I haven't but it sounds really good. I guess there's no point asking where exactly it is if it's supposed to be secret!? Maybe you can show me sometime soon. Might try and do a 2 ride weekend FoD Sat and Swinley Sunday but with the Brazilian GP (Championship finale) on I may have to stay in and drink beer...?

    New trail sounds fun.

As long as it's not pouring down I'm planning a ride in Swinley on Saturday if anyone's up for it.

Meet at 10.30am at the Go Ape gate.
  • It WILL be pouring down.

Heavy rain this PM cancelled the ride. Don't mind mud and drizzle but mud and heavy rain, no thanks.
  • Wet, muddy and rainy but best ever ride today. Loved it! Even saw some hero on a blue rigid speeding around like a demon.

Riding again on Monday if anyone fancies it. Have figured out a lovely little route that takes in Seagull, Stickler, the jump gully, the bits in the "Expert Mountain Biking Area", Labyrinth and a few other trails I don't know the name of. Close to 15km in total I reckon.

Was trying to follow this originally: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/169598577 but the Garmin just made it more confusing.

Please let me know if there's any way to lengthen it without taking in too much fire road.

There's a load of stuff off to the left (as you look at your route) that takes you down towards Ceasars Camp, Corkscrew etc. Then back up to Seagull etc.
But I'm rubbish at reading those Strava type maps.
