Hi mate what sort of thing is there up Hampstead Heath? I live north london and have heard of some jumps there but have yet to check it out. Got and pics or vids? Thanks.
  • Anyone up for Aston Hill this Sunday?

Best bits of Hampstead Heath are on Sandy Heath IME. But it's all short runs and the ever-present threat of patrolling police, although there are a lot less here than on the main parts of the Heath and they are generally obese and sat in a motor!

I ride there sometimes, but you should be careful not to get ticket from cops. Although you ride trails not footpaths they still dont like it. Seen them twice, once had to pedal out of there pretty fast :)

Recently have found pretty nice trails in Wimbledon common, the only thread you should be aware in there is golfers :D

Yeah but on Wimbledon Common you get mounted police which are a little harder to elude!

OK, so its Minley tomorrow, for a blast round the Torq 12:12 course. We'll be meeting around 10:15 here > http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=48 ... &A=Y&Z=120, which is the roundabout at the top of the Minley Road, easily accessed from the M3 J4 if you are so inclined, or from Yateley.

    All welcome.

You literally park next to the roundabout. If your coming from the A30/Yateley direction, its some hardstanding straight over the roundabout, if you're coming from the M3, its effectively the 1st exit.

Hmm, really want to check out Minley. Did Surrey Hills today so not sure about orienteering around there tomorrow.

You could always do some pikey shopping at Blackbushe Sunday market on the way ;)

Will post in the morning when I know.
DK do you want me to text you with the plan in the morning?

had a quick search fee is either
    £2 as stated here http://www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/dontforgetaboutnewcarparkcharges
    or
    £4 via http://www.bracknellnews.co.uk/news/roundup/articles/2012/09/14/62705-were-being-taken-for-a-ride-over-parking-fees/

I'll bring enough to cover both car park & permit

I'll check back around 0930 before setting off weather looking good for tomorrow

Charge is £2 for a couple of hours, £4 for a day. Apparently you can get £2 refunded if you've bought the £2 day permit. Likewise they're apparently doing discounts on the 6 month parking permit if you have the annual cycle permit.

Worth a ping to wake me up.

Keeping an eye on the Peaslake thing too but seems not much interest. Swinley fine too.

Another call for Enduro 1 Marshalls....

OK guys, can you help out here? Enduro 1 on the 14th October still needs some more marshalls for the Swinley round. It will take up an afternoon, and I am hosting a Drinks/Food/Fix your bike in my workshop session at my place afterwards for anyone that helps out. So, if you can (and I know you can really) please do let me know ASAP. What an offer eh? If you've got parts you want to fit to your bike, or it just needs a quick service, then you can save yourself the time, effort & money and get it done at my place while enjoying a free beer and food post-marshalling banter with friends. What more could you want?

Let me know if you can help.

    Thanks
    Ben

I'm not sure if I'm around that weekend, at the moment. What does "marshalling" involve?

Also: finally back on the bike this Sunday, anyone up for a ride somewhere?

I'm not going to lie, it involves a clipboard, pen, and stopwatch most likely, standing around in swinley for three or four hours and getting a bit cold. But! It will help someone out who is doing grassroots racing in a fun and friendly format that promotes mountain biking and isn't his living.
