  • Any of you guys heard of and maybe fancy a bit of this sometime in the not-too-near-but-also-not-too-distant future?

    http://www.ukbikeskills.co.uk/

I'm sure I've heard a couple of you guys mention 'Jedi' who runs these sessions. From what I've read it's amazing. The facility looks incredible too...

I'm thinking next year, possibly March or later so not planning anything as yet just putting out the feelers...!

    Hi All,

It seems there will be decent weather Friday and Saturday. Using the fact that it shouldn't be too swampy I'd like to ride my girl again ;)
Anyone for riding in Swinley or Surrey Hills on Saturday morning, something around 9-11am?

Several Jedi pupils amongst us (does that make them Jedi Knights?).

Haven't been along yet myself. Though keep bumping into his fellow Jedi, Richard of http://www.allbikedup.com. Were discussing the idea of getting a bunch of us to do a cornering course, or at least Howard from P&S was strongly promoting it. Could be fun and it's local on trails we know. His tuition is based on the same principles.

Thinking of a session at Tony/Jedi's place more for the jumps & drops given he has the ideal set up for it, maybe for a 1-to-1 or small group.

p.s. check out the online mag http://www.imbikemag.com/. Richard contributes technique articles to that and a number of articles and videos tend to be based in Surrey Hills

Or is one the master and one the learner? Or just both wise old masters ;)

Anyway, this weekend. No rain today & tomorrow it looks like, but been raining a fair bit on and off so probably still mud-tastic.

Surrey Hills tomorrow has been suggested, either crazy idea again of Westcott->Leith->Holmbury->Peaslake and back, attempting to do so before the light runs out (failed last time), or just an explore round Winterfold which is my default choice. The downhills should be mud slides I think.

Or anything else if there are other ideas.

Sunday looks like plenty of rain, but if it's no too bad maybe I'll get the hard tail out to Swinley.

Further plans in the following months, keep talking about getting up to Aston some more. Apparently they claim it's holding up okay given the weather.

Would like to do Cwmcarn some more also, Afan is always a nice trip, and a north Wales adventure should be on the cards.

Elsewhere, Cannock Chase though bit of a trek, or adventures up north.

    Anyway, just some thoughts.

What time you start riding at Surrey Hills and when do you start?

Looks like it's planned for 12, might be bit earlier. From the grass opposite Nirvana Cycles in Westcott. I'm still a bit too pranged up for it though.

Not sure if it's still on. I'm not up for the Westcott epic and not sure when I'll be out. Might try to get out for a couple of hours after lunch either Peaslake or Swinley.

So, ended up out very late for a short loop.

Next plan that probably won't happen - There's a early bird ride with the MTBB forum folk at 9am at Swinley. Would be interested, but it's 9am plus that's when the rain is due to start ending with heavy rain maybe.

    So don't know.
  • greetings, might have an hour or so in the morning, earlish but not too esrly. Was yhing surrey hills or maybe even a loop round newlands corner if anyone's about.

Late out again, just off to Swinley. I know it's going to rain soon but might hold off until after dark they say.
  • Went to Peaslake yesterday with a mate to do some exploring and find some new places. Managed to get a couple of hours in before it turned dark and found a few tracks. Pretty good stuff, but nowhere near as good as when we went with you guys.

Would be up for an earlier ride next weekend if some people are up for it. Hoping to get to the car park before 1000 and finish up in time to get home before 1500. Need to keep the missus happy in the run up to Christmas!

Yeah, I'd like to do a not so late ride as it's getting to the point now where I need to take lights with me or rush to cram in what I can in the time.

FYI - BKB has had some maintenance. Much needed fix to the nasty hole at the start included. Might have smoothed out nice bits further on though.

Awesome one that's been doing the rounds a little. So funny, especially if you know Surrey Hills.

Ben, I'm off on Friday and could be up for something. Will your ride be XC stylie or something more hardcore?
  • made me chuckle that clip. Anybody fancy a ride during this week some time? plenty of time on my hands at the moment!

It will be a mixed bag I expect. Im not too fussed whether its miles and miles or just playing about, but do want to have a chance to see what the SB-66 has to offer, so probably a decent length of ride with some fun stuff thrown in for a distraction.

  • Im fine with distance etc etc however I tend to get the old 20p/50p effect when anything nasty springs up. I'm happy with whatever Swinley can throw at me (within reason on a XC bike) and pretty much the majority of SH. Saying that, I'm still not brave enough for Deliverance I dont think.

Even with a big bouncy bike I've got a mental block on Deliverance. I'll break something (i.e. me) if I try it at the moment even though I've done stuff as steep with no problem elsewhere. Doesn't help that I've seen many tumble on it.

So Friday, only if I can be done mid afternoon at the latest, but not sure anyway. Weather looks awful for the rest of the week.

I can do any time, so finishing by mid avo shouldnt be an issue.

  • I might be interested. Bringing along my medium SB-66 if I do. Basically gotta see if I can swing the day off work, and workload's all over the place just now so I probably won't know til Thursday night. What size are you testing?

As one of the few still working to support you layabouts I can't do Friday but might manage the weekend. Still hurting but got to MTFU sooner or later. Sandy Hill said something about snow - should be fun.

Am I just weird or is the blonde in that clip hot for a toon?

OK, so maybe its an SB-66 special! Milko, DK, can you both make it for around 11?

  • If I can make it then 11am is ideal. And I still hope to, depending on how much I can achieve at work today!

Where shall we meet? I normally park up in Peaslake for Surrey Hills but have satnav so happy to go wherever's right for you two.
