Wheel okay-ish. Has small dings like the other had but not cracked this time. Got cassette he kept aside and that seems to be screwed up (spacer issues). Just more hassle and with bits swapped about between bikes and things in pieces. Just not ready to ride.

Will get something rideable for Sunday.

OK pick a time, your commitments are greater than mine.
10ish would be nice, but if you (and sobol) want to start a bit earlier that's fine with me.
    @DK that's 9.30 in your universe.

Where do we meet? I'd rather at 9:30 but 10 will do to.

Too early for a decent breakfast, so I'll reward myself with bacon and eggs for lunch

Weather turned out perfect and conditions were good.
Good ride until I decided to see how fast I could do Deerstalker. Answer is not as fast as I thought. Now in a bit of pain, cheered up with large plate of bacon and eggs. As long as I don't laugh, cough or breath it's not too bad.

  • Which one is Deerstalker? Left left? Are you okay?

I stayed in to watch the GP today but wish I'd come for a ride as it was fairly dull.

Left left yes. I'm fine, just feeling a bit battered.

Looks like plans for the weekend are:
Saturday SH 11ish Epic from Westcott to Leith and then Holmbury and Winterfold. (And back again presumably)

Sunday sometime probably late morning Swinley.

Random garbled updates below, but I'll try and keep it sensible here.

yeah, last time I was out in the desert I nearly ran over a rattler... the big furry spiders are cute though.

about 10 years ago I was camping with mrs diy in the arizona desert, A local chap found a rattler under his truck and called us all over to look at it. In my mind I had this thought that they were about as dangerous as adders, i.e. only a problem for the young, old or ill. I've always held the view that the locals are normally the experts, he proceeded to prod the rattler with a stick to see if it would shake its tail. We were all very close to the snake. mrs diy and I lost interest and went back to bed.

The next day we visited a park and there was a sign on an info board warning about the rattler. Something like...
90% of people die when bit, the rest die later
the venom is necrotic so it basically rots your body over time.
and they don't rattle in the winter months because its too cold and damp, which makes them even more likely to strike.

Advanced notice for a London Calling ride I know, but I am testing an SB-66 on Friday the 16th. Thinking maybe Surrey Hills if anyone is up for it.

I should be up for the SH 'epic'. Debating whether Westcott or Peaslake is a better start. The latter in my opinion though the finish route back down to Westcott is fun (the climb up isn't). Saturday, should be less grief from the locals for parking near their beloved church.

Sunday Swinley, yeah I'm sure I can't say no to that also.

I'm probably not up for anything this weekend. Hurts to breathe.
School ride on Saturday so that's out, but thel33ter will be up for Swinley on Sunday, even if I'm not.
Was really just copying stuff across from Facebook pages.
