Hopefully better than their deliveries ;)

Ah well, give it another shot. Maybe I'll be lucky this time.

Whereabouts in Surrey Hills are you going riding? I could be interested.
Not sure yet. I never have any plan. Default is usually start at Walking Bottom car park in Peaslake and go from there. The usual of bit of Winterfold, bit of Pitch and maybe bit of Holmbury.

    10am perhaps.
  • Sounds good. Anywhere specific to meet?

  • @deadkenny, my mate and I will be there tomorrow. Unfortunately there's some train disruption between 0852 and 1038, so we can only be at Gomshall station by 1152. It's nearly 3 miles from there to the meeting point, so I'd be very grateful if you can wait for us! Else we'll pedal as fast as we can to get there!

@cooldad Hopefully Swinley on Sunday as well if I'm not broken on Saturday!

Surely you'd be better aiming for dorking station and then sprinting over to wb - no more than a 15 min ride. 2nd left after wotton hatch pub from memory.
  • Ok. Will try that then.

No weirdness with the trains getting to Dorking by the looks of it. Should be able to get there in time for the main course! Will be clipped in and am a novice, so there are going to be falls and chickening out of drops galore!

Don't know what you've been riding but on my road bike coming from Peaslake to Dorking takes me 30+ mins and most of that is downhill. It's about 8-10 miles so 15 mins is pretty good going :P

Could pick up from Gomshall, but only got space for one which means leaving one behind!

Not sure exactly from Gomshall but done the route just along the road towards Abinger, down the bridleway that cuts towards Peaslake. Sure it doesn't take that long. Hard to describe the route though.

Anyway, I'm in no rush myself.
  • greetings all, whats plan for sunday?

Well it's not Swinley as there's a race on unless people want to do the race route :P

Going to Swinley anyway. Could watch a bit, and just play off the track. Session the downhill bits or explore.
According to Gorrick website the race is actually in Crowthorne not Swinley itself, so should be fine.

    11 ish?

Surrey Hills was interesting. Mud, mud and mud. Downhill muddy sliding fun on Winterfold :D

Swinley 11-ish tomorrow sounds fine. Hard tail or bouncy that's the question?
  • Great ride yesterday despite some of it being sideways in the mud! Girlfriend has whinged me into going for a ride with her on the road bike today so I'm out of Swinley today. :(

Hope to see you guys next week!

Good one at Swinley with DK and pieman today, great weather, not too muddy.
Watched some of the racers, including quite a few taking shortcuts. As far as I know no prize money so you wonder who they are cheating?

  • I was competing in the Gorrick race today...I can honestly say it wasnt me taking shortcuts, however, I'm interested to know where these w*****s were cutting corners. Where did you watch from? Perhaps i'll send the organisers a little email.

I never care where I finish as long as I'm not last. Last brass monkey race I did I got absolutely hammered on the climbs by a 12-year old girl; which is why it was my last race.

@gazhurst. We'd done Watson Wander and were going to head down to the bombholes and Corkscrew but it was taped off, so we rode along a bit but the return route was taped as well so we turned back and did Satans Grotto and Seagull, so people were cutting the loop down towards Corkscrew I suppose, although don't actually know where your route went.

    @atz that's why I've never bothered.

I really should have I think.

Yep, yet again. Just had the email today to say they've shipped it despite the "in stock" and "same day dispatch" claims. That'll mean at least three days from now also before it will turn up based on past experience. At least I'm not in a rush this time. I'll only ever use them for things I don't need this side of Christmas I think.

I'm going to try and get out early doors one day this weekend for a blast around Swinley, if anyone fancies coming along. By early I mean probably earlier than Cooldad would like :o
    A Flock of Birds
    + some other bikes.
  • I'm up for that, haven't been out for a few weeks. How early is early though?

  • I'm up for it too, but am at the mercies of public transport :(

Would you be up for Saturday morning? 0800 is the earliest I can get to Bagshot though. Could aim for an 0830 start.

These lunchtime rides don't leave much of the day to one's self.
