Saturday sounds flexible but some are early birds. Suggesting 9.30.

Decent ride today, only one severe injury, a probable broken collarbone. The guy went over a drop, got half way off the edge before nosediving, hard. Apart from that is was fun all round, the work they've done on Barrys has made it much faster and a lot more fun, like it used to be.

One a different note - I know I threaten anyone who give me race results before I watch them with GBH but the MotoGP race was horrible. That you could have warned me about.

Shocking indeed and so soon after the Indycar one. I'm no MotoGP or Indy fan and don't know who's who but sad and both quite horrific.

I'm guessing you'd recorded it and saw the whole thing, not just sensitive highlights with the nasty bits edited.

Did see the crash, looked nasty when his helmet came off - looked like a strap broke.
I don't mind a few spills and thrills, but don't like seeing people hurt, and never watch replays of crashes with serious consequences. To their credit, once it was obvious it was serious the BBC didn't show it again.

Good, if somewhat stunted ride on Sat. Nice to see you all again. DK - Nice bike BTW. Good to see you got shot of the i-drive and joined the collective.

Just had a message from Mark (injured party). Not a broken collarbone, just a seperated shoulder. Just. Looked painful enough to me.

Sorry to hear people injure themselves. CD DK etc why you encourage decent folk ride risky stuff? Healing vibes to Mark, ... is he a new rider I don't know about?

No was a couple of guys we picked up along the way to show them around. Could be some regrets now.
The drop was a bit of a nasty one, thel33ter made it look easy, but no one else (except Notthepriory Mark) had the cajones to try it.

Thel33ter had been used as a bait, once taken, you CD&Co inflicted pain upon unconcerned folk. The Judgement Day is near, unless Mark appears with his views on MTB world.

Hope man is able and recovering fast.

Was there about 15 of you or so riding? Does one of you have a tattoo of a shock on his leg?
  • No, not me. I'm currently nursing a smashed knee.

Was other Marks crash the same as the photo DK posted upto FB London Calling. The Gap jump. Looked awesome and insane.

Nope, his crash was on one of the drops on Winterfold.

That gap jump is insane, even more so if you've seen the run out afterwards, there's about 15ft of train followed by a 20ft drop onto the road if you miss the corner.

the work they've done on Barrys has made it much faster and a lot more fun, like it used to be.

When did they do the work on it? Was still pretty cut up a couple of weeks ago, although seemed to have naturally got better than previously.

Near the top. Seems also to be a slight change of route near where the uphill shortcut crosses BKB. Although I was going so fast I may be wrong.
Bottom berm is still rubbish though. More brake bumps than trail.

    Last weekend. http://twitter.com/#!/SHMTBer/statuses/ ... 1797790720

Think it's had some natural improvement though from the dry dusty conditions mixed with the odd little bit of watering. Riding pretty well, fast and the jumps seem better (though the new bike is probably making it all better anyway). The bottom berms still suck though.

Yep I was out there last (previous to the one just gone) weekend too and came across the repairers. They seemed to be filling in holes where erosion has occurred and making what looked like a couple of passing places.

I must admit I quite liked the holes in that section as you needed to jump them to maintain your speed, but I reckon plenty of folk must have gone over the bars.

That's good! I'd not have said there were any holes big enough to cause crashes though surely!? That last RH berm is crap though, too many people are on the brakes before they get to it!

Agree with you DK that it was riding very well anyway, it went through a phase earlier in the year where the middle section particularly was crap, there's some nice new lines appeared.
