Andy - no stress - it's just about having some fun with decent company really. Serious riding is pretty low on the criteria level.
I am quite happy with rest stops (smoke breaks), Both DK and myself believe in discretion (or cowardice), Plaisir is the consummate pro at breaking bikes, and if you'd seen Stan's collection of dismounts today...
You are however the first person to attempt an amputation with a brake disk.I don't do smileys.

And most importantly ignore Popstar. Your brain will rot and you'll start talking strangely.I don't do smileys.

Fun and decent company were never in short supply today.
I guess I'm just pi£$ed at myself for getting so many fundemental things wrong in one day.
Trying to amputate your thumb in the rush not to be late is just stupid. Turning up for a ride with the saddle set too low and not realising what's wrong until your thighs are screaming on the first climb of the day is just bloody unforgivable given the fact that I have ridden longer and far more technical climbs in the recent past.
The trails would not have been a problem except for the fact that not only was I knackered from the climb but the pain in the end of my thumb made me want to throw up, hence the bail out of the rest of the ride.
Like I say....I'll be back out soon....Beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy :-)0 -
Oh Cooldad, I expected that. You just don't have as much passion as I have. Yes, I bet you are scared to discover the truth about riding bikes. There is no harm if Popstar spreads Jedi religion. As complicated as Cooldad makes it out to be, but infact it's all just riding bikes.
But Popstar can dress up a dream about riding bikes much better than Cooldad. Fact!
Let me troll a bit on this subject then:
- the theme is Morning breakfast
You have an honest Full English breakfast
or
Scrumbled egg infused with truffle, smoked Scottish salmon, fresh French baguette and finally a glass of Krug Grande Cuvee champagne ... do you hear bubbles racing to the top of crystal flute?
That's what I call passion and dream! What could have been (Video)
I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though0 -

Popstar....Someone who smokes 20 a day and has 10 pints on his way home from work most nights of the week couldn't tell the difference. The point I'm trying to make with that statement is....You can give me a £200 second hand HT or put me on a £5K superbike and with the skillset I have, I'll ride just the same. Let me keep the 5K bike for a few months and you might see a greater improvement than just hacking about on the HT. And I'm now wondering about lesson 5; .....Keep thy big trap shut until you know the group better.Beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy :-)0 -
5k bike could mask bad habits until the judgement day comes. Apprentice* on the other hand rides HT too, and I ride cheap HT with front brake only. Obviously I do it deliberately to hone skills however, shame Apprentice doesn't frequent these forums but the man miraculously quit smoking too! What could have been (Video)

Hey, if I can get shiny bikes muddy, surely someone as keen on cleaning as popstar should have no probs.0

I can handle that. +1 and wet would be worse. Just remember to ride with your camelbak tube inside your top.0

Now it works.... ( its hard to find a popstar on a bike spreading religion , in google pics, the closest was a monk on a bike)

Today we had some ride. Struggled to keep up with those racy snakes, and my brakes went even worse. Crashed because of that. Think FA will be quick to post a video of Popstar fail at riding bikes in style.
Time to go and sort out my new riding donkey, or at least look into why those brakes don't work obviously the bike will be sparkling clean too! What could have been (Video)

Almost as sore as my ego
In truth I don't think I'll be out this weekend unless some people pay thier dues and I can find a new(ish) rear shock the right size for the Marin.
The Thumb should be OK by then but I'm not really willing to ride in anger 'till I get the bike sorted.
I could always cause even greater hilarity for you lot and bring the wife's 16" Spech Stumpy out for a blast. I know I can ride it with the seatpost at ffull extension with no probs and at least the BB will be at a "non-pi$$take" level.
What say you??????Beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy :-)0 -
Join in... go on. I rode my HT a month or so back in the mud and filth much to the amusement of people like cooldad.0
-
So Who is in for Sunday ? Hopefully the minus 10 thing works out as it will at least be grippy.
Meet pitch ?
P.s Popstar your threads worry me mate , have you been drinking more than usual, clearly quaffing champers??Santa Cruz Nomad.0 -
@Andy do it. Popstar's been riding his wife's HT so he doesn't get his French tart bike messy.
@Richard - we'll be there, and DK never says no. Pitch? Where?I don't do smileys.

Not the real name. A trail off the top and back of Winterfold that you almost had to ride down as walking down wasn't possible for most of it. There was a lot of slipping sliding and falling but we laughed all the way down0 -

Shoot that video is evil ... shame not enough of speed to fly further. But yeah, what do you expect, had to ride with front brake only into switchback. Reminded me of Naveed, but he managed to flip the bike into air with his long legs instead.
At least managed to dodge trees in style*What could have been (Video)

Your fall wasn't the only thing that didn't get enough speed...
That was a very social ride. Any more social and we should have done it at the pub!!!
My heart rate never when above 92% of my normal max!!!

Usual pace then for us. Pub would be warmer too.
Cracking tumble there!0
