After getting half way through changing the seals on my shock, I realized there was no way I was going to be able to get the aircan off, long story short, does anyone have a strap wrench I could borrow?

    HUUUUGGGEE map here

If you print it out and turn it upside-down its about right, if you are in the car park facing towards the Go-Ape, or just follow someone around.

    The parking lot is here.
    Nine Mile Ride

A way to that trail is straight along the fireroad out from the carpark, then when you get to a huge fireroad go straight along that, and follow it till you get to a reservoir, it bears left, and then bears left again, and there is a big, very steep climb. You will then get to a triangle of grass, with a single pine tree in it, turn left, and you will see a few trails going down. Deerstalker is the one on the left hand side.

It's probably best to wait, and be shown around, cause there is lots of fun little bits that are very easily missed.

Also on the video front (and this is for everyone), how about a bit of trail noise rather than just music? :)

    Me of course.

Assuming there aren't any problems getting there that is. Still not certain how much snow, if any, we'll get though I'm predicting that it'll be mostly slushy.

If it's too bad then maybe Swinley instead. Shouldn't be a problem getting there I think.

    You was a given.
We went to Swinley today, very little mud, great fun (except for the rain).
Had the place to ourselves, not even any kids at jumpgully. I actually went down it a few times.
Good alternative-no problems getting there, and good fun in the snow, if it happens.

Mostly because action cam mics are pretty poor and the wind noise you pick up is horrendous

That's true... but a little bit adds to videos I think. Not saying get rid of music, just it's nice to hear a bit of trail and bike noise. Also adds comedy at times :)
  • So Getting back to topic.....

    Who is on for Sunday?

    ME
    Cooldad
    DK
    Supra-man

10.00 walking bottom , probably Winterfold way again , have more goodies that we found recently, although probably won't do the trail with the 10ft gap in it.

Thel33ter( its a big off camber gap but we can look , riding umm ,not sure on that until its very dry)

    is this still accurate

    Anyone else?

Really fancy a snow ride this week, at least in the cold this may mean we can hopefully keep going and not stop at the top of every climb......... :D

Neoguard had better arrive today despite the weather.

Sorry to say this guy's but you'll be VERY lucky to get anywhere near Walking Bottom this weekend.

It took me 1 1/2 hours to get from Horsley side of Newlands Corner to the center of Cranleigh tonight because of a couple of cm's of snow laying on top of sheet ice

If we get the predicted 20cm's of fresh snow tomorrow on top of the compacted snow that's now lying over sheet ice then I'm afraid the only thing getting in or out of Peaslake will be a 4x4 with studded tyres or a tractor (and I wouldn't hold much hope out for either having driven on the local roads tonight).

You can always come to mine on Sunday and have a ride along the Downslink if you fancy it. At least I can provide relativly safe access, a brisk if boring ride with good views and a few pubs along the way. There's also plenty of good flat parking with easy access from major roads close by.

Or we could start in Wescott or Dorking as the A25 should be cleared. My biggest problem is that they don't ever grit my road - was already an ice rink tonight, so I may not get out of the house.
But it's nice and clear now, so think positive.
Sunday will be bright, sunny and the 30 deg C will have melted the snow. I'll be in my Speedos.

At this rate I'll be struggling to get out of Woking. Main roads are slowly passable but covering fast and unless the ploughs go out they'll be grinding to a halt by the end of the day, given the prediction is for this to last all day!

It should be fantastic out there but just a question of how to get anywhere.
  • If they close the airport tomorrow morning as they have done today I will be riding in Swinley
Won't know before morning but 10:30 would be my likely starting time
