Expensive for what they are, but boy do they work.

We averaged 10 miles in 2 hours actual riding time, not including the 3ish hours of stops, so a toddler would have kept up no problem

The stops are vitally important, need time to rest, talk and eat bacon - we did anyway. I think Popstar's on a diet - someone told him it's hard to lose the weight you put on when you're pregnant.

Popstar didn't realise that his HT rear brakes didn't work, so stylishly jumped over the bars on Wedgy. And few more hugs into the trees n that. Shame I realised my brakes weren't working in the middle of the ride though. It's a bit difficult to ride steep trails on nearly slick type tyres with front brake only. Grip on trails was amazing, so many wash outs. Walked all uphills as usual and met new rider too.

Popstar's diet of multiple mince pies does work wonders though.

Finally I hand my video emperror's crown to DKenny and awaiting few pictures (Cooldad  ) too.

    hi guys,

i just started this hobby about two months ago an im interested to join your group. i have been to surrey hills once and a couple of times is Epsom downs but thats it really, but i want to do some more proper trailing and hopefully i can come and follow you guys around. LOL!!

I am not a good climber but hopefully i can try and keep up with you guys. i also have some friends who live in epsom, reigate and dorking that i go biking with and they are also looking to join a group. i did a lot of BMX jumping when i was young so im quite confident on downhills. i used to own a HT but i didnt really fit my style so i bought an FS.

I also met a member in this forum named "supraman" when my friend bought the bike he was selling and he told me to go to this thread. he told me that you regularly go biking on Sundays.

so guys if you want someone to ride with just PM me ill be there. thanks

Welcome, just keep an eye on this thread on Fridays, stuff is normally sorted out by then. Don't worry about climbing at anything above walking pace, at least not when Cooldad is around

We have all paces down hills, from my flat out, basically very extended crashes, down to the several 'apprentices'

Denzzz while you are there, obviously you are very welcome either you alone or even better with friends. Feel free to browse through Our group ride videos. At least you will get a rough idea of fun we have. Also there are some -Wacky Races- to be organised by some of us which would be good fun.

If that particular pic gets out you may both get 'lost' in the hills next time. Think of the children.

Don't let Popstar's vids worry you. We ride slowly (he walks) uphill, go down at any speed you feel comfortable with, and rest a lot. And we know ALL the chicken runs.

"Real men" use their brains. That doesn't include me clearly as when I went to get cooldad's seatpost I realised how messed up my HT was from the muddy ride a few weeks back. It's in need of TLC.

Not sure exactly when I'll be riding this coming weekend. Might be an early Saturday ride as we have company most of the weekend or might be on Sunday depending when I need to drive him to Heathrow.

its more on Crazy than stupid to be honest, if i had a 4x4 i would have drove to surrey and joined you guys.
  • If Denzzz28 is coming out to play this weekend, I might have to make it a newbiefest and bring my 10 year old "new build" out for a trial run :o .

I only live a ten minute drive from Walking Bottom and due to work/wife's work/bike breakages have only managed 1 bl£$&y ride around that area so far :( :x .

I'll keep an eye on the thread (as always) and try and make it out this weekend.
Beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy :-)
  • We ll see the "real men" at start of race line next year to see who the men are and who the boys are. :D

Ps you guys should be in tee shirts, it was only 2 or 3degrees.

    what about xmas drinks,

    weekend of 17 and 18th??

  • That weekend is good for me in both riding and drinking terms! Looking to get out this Sunday, not finishing work until 3AM though but I think I will make it - I might aim to get there at 10.30 or something. Looking forward to testing out new configuration of bike!

After much frustration with Windows Movie Maker which just continually crashed and gave up with it. Ended up using Pinnacle VideoSpin which is free. Basic and rubbish transitions, not many options but works.

Rubbish video in the camera. Will have to look into these HD things.
