Busy putting my Spinervals DVD on it right now for playing at the gym. it's coming out at about 1GB for an hour's DVD, but I've left it a quite a decent quality so I can run it on my laptop at home also. If all you want it for is an iPod you could probably get it to half that size.
I spent ages trying out other 'free' ones only to discover that they only let you rip about 5 minutes before trying to flog you the commercial upgrade. Hope this helps someone else save some time.
I use Danisoft DVD to ipod0 -
OK. I'm not here to point fingers or find someone to blame but someone really should take responsibillity. If you've been told once you've been told a thousand times. Satan is not allowed to play in the video editing suite!!! You would have thought that we would have learnt from the previous incident where he was let loose. Eight years on we are still having to put up with Big Brother. Now it's happened again and the result is fight club!!!
This video poses an enomous risk to humanity and It's lungs. Mine are now languishing on the floor of my cellar.
The worst part of all of this is that for some reason I can't wait to get back on it tomorrow0 -
Anyone know if you can buy a battery for an ipod that lasts more than 30 minutes with the screen on? :x0
-
If it's anything like the iPhone you need to give it a really good all night charge. Mine shows 100% after a couple of hours charge but will deplete quickly. Charge it all day or night and it lasts far far longer, good enough for over 3 hours of video. The early video iPods were poor though0

i cant afford luxuries off the power meter! because i just bought a Trek madone 4.50
-
The early video iPods were poor though
That'll be the problem. Discovered a power socket in the spin studio at the gym though so I can get round it for now.0 -
Just dowloaded fight club and tried it, why did i pay money to be abused like that?A feather is kinky, a whole chicken is just perverse.0

It's entitled 'Fight Club' and by jove it's hard!
Starts off with a nice leisurely bimble with a basket fronted shopper but then you are soon in the thick of it.
The footage for the intervals is based around the 2009 World Champs in Mendrisio and it has been produced very well, with some good footage and snippets of commentary.
Just when you think you can't push any harder you get the ATTACK! notice and you can't help but dig that bit deeper.
The intervals are longer than the downward spiral (approx 7 minutes) with attacks scattered throughout the interval. It seems to target threshold/VO2 max rather than sufferfest which was more the VO2 max/ Neuromuscular Power range. Definitely good racing training!
The cool down video is a highly informative piece of work too!
My Heart Rate was frequently above my Lactate Threshold (the red dotted line, 175bpm). Yellow dotted line is my current FTP of 265.
I'm still getting the fit dialled in on the bike and have not been drinking enough water the last few days so power was a bit down. Will nail this next time when bike is sorted and I've been drinking enough!
All in all, it's a bargain compared to CTS et al training DVDs and a NapD must buy for winter!
I got a 182bpm last night with the Fight Club disc and felt i was pretty much going as hard as i could. I really do like these vids but they're hard work..;-)
Was that michael Cotty I spotted at the bit where it's the Marmotte? It's at a recovery period of the workout. I know he likes those red Barloworld thermal tops.0 -
Think this is the relevant thread...

Check it out! Full-length TV shows!
Those 1960s DR Who classics shall keep me going during my next session on the rollers.0 -
got the Downward Spiral one...
That is the hardest thing I have EVER done on a bike!!! and only did half of it!!!
Will deffo be buying more, will be good to use even in summer as specific training tools!
Bargin for the money I think.0 -
Been lurking for a while gleening much wisdom but thought I would comment on these video's.
Got both Fight Club and Downward Spiral with Fight Club being my favourite - not keen on the music in Downward Spiral but the session is a good workout. I'm alternating them with the Spinnerval Aero sessions which are nowhere near as intense as part of my winter training.0 -
Please can anyone who has bought the back up DVD's of the sufferfest tell me whether they work on a normal DVD player or if they are just for playing on a laptop?
Thanks.0 -

Thanks.
I think they are region free so will play on any DVD player. Some players can be a bit temperamental but most will work ok.0 -
Thanks sampras38. I was a bit reluctant to take the laptop into the damp and cold garden shed, but I don't mind risking an old 2nd hand combi TV/dvd player in there.0

I have a new Dell laptop and used that in the garage for a while, then transferred the footage to my Ipod Touch with some nice speakers.0 -
New Sufferfest "Revolver" will be out in the next week or so apparently - 15 x 1 min on / 1 min offs (like the old Sufferfest 4) - brutal0
-
Sounds ideal for race training!
Also sounds freakin' hard!
Bring it on.0 -
Tried the new "Revolver" 'fest last night. Ooooff. though i think that "Fight Club" is still the hardest, possibly because Revolver is only 45 mins vs. 1 hour for the others.
If you've used the old "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" Sufferfest, its exactly the same structure warm-up, 15 x 1 min on / 1 min off, warm-down.
If I'm to be a bit picky, I think the original was better. What it lacked in production values ~(i.e rubbish video quality), it more than made up for with a decent soundtrack and, to be honest, more interesting racing clips. Sean Kelly, racing Paris Roubaix with his "goatee of filth", will always knock 1km track racing into the proverbial cocked hat.
Having said all that, its still streets ahead of most other training videos, especially for the money.
A word of warning - for some reason, my download file was 1.2 GB. We have, as they say, a "big pipe" at work but the bloody thing still took an absolute age to download.'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -
Bought both Downward Spiral and FIght Club sunday night.
Went home early last night especially to do one of them and chose the downward spiral. Oh my word. I was out of the seat and nearly tore the bike out of the kurt kinetic. Absolutely loved it. So cheap but so amazingly hard, got off the trainer and every hair on my arms had a bead of sweat on it and in the last set of high intensity effort I really believed blood was coming out of my eyeballs.. Can't wait to try fight club, highly recommended.+++++++++++++++++++++
we are the proud, the few, Descendents.
Panama - finally putting a nail in the economic theory of the trickle down effect.0 -
Did downward spiral last night brutal.
Thought the bonus 15 second sprints were a bit cruel
Well recommended I'm not a huge turbo fan but with the weather we've been having I've not had much choice and this makes it much more fun.0 -
Does anyone what what the difference is with the 'class' video?
Apart from been more expensive they are also larger, are they a much higher resolution?0
