I used to sell BSO's with the Free Spirit/Emmelle name on the downtube and the smaller kids bikes in 20 & 24" wheel full suss models would only compress when my svelte 15 stone, at the time, sat on the bike. Pity little Paul weighing much less then me trying to get the suspension to move.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • I wish i'd taken a picture of the bso sitting at the bottom stairs to our flat the other week. DH forks and not 1, but 2 rear shocks lol Wish i could remember the name of it. Will see if i can find a pic somewhere on the net

  • Erm, strange rear end design. And generally ugly but probably very good in its day

This isn't an MTB, but OMG.. what was the designer thinking about?

i actually really love the design of this bike, an attempt to reduce frame weight with the holes and the rear end is supported by rods working in pairs (working together in tension and compression-on seat tube and also at the bottom bracket). nice engineering exercise

One of the more extreme designs of U.R.T (Unified Rear Triangle (bottom bracket is on the swing arm, so shock activity doesn't change chain length between chain ring and sprocket) from back in the day. These were kinda' schizophrenic by all accounts give significantly less active rear suspension when the rider is standing, in comparison to being in the saddle. Schwinn did a similar model, while Trek & Gary Fisher used to do tamer URTs with main pivots closer to the BB. I used to really like the Fisher, Joshua and Level Betty bikes.

 It's even got one of those stupid things on the front brake that limits the power you can apply through it!
And a barcode sticker, so you can pay for it at a self-service Tesco checkout

Is it really by Suziki? Weird, just shockingly weird!

I remember seeing a road bike with no seattube at the Bike Show many years ago and so wanted to sit on it but was worried bout breaking the frame. The show was on at the end of March/beginning of April so not too sure if it was an 0104 prototype.

Well it does have a Shimano XT sticker on it......

And clipless pedals to boot

It's almost like the designer started off creating a FS bike and then decided 'feck it... I'll convert it to a HT instead'

    But that is quality....

Saw this in Tesco this morning. Looked horrid in the flesh, revoshift on dropbars. The only good part seemed to be the alu frame, albeit 7005 tubing.

Nothing, but the whole bike costs only £195 so the chances are the frame isn't going to be the best 7005 frame about.
