  • Ti is great for Winter abuse no matter where it's made....
let all your saddles be comfy and all your rides less bumpy....
  • The above mentioned head angle is for one size of frame only (medium).

    Here are the facts:

    Geometry
    S(50) M(52) L(54) XL(56) XXL(58)
    Size equivalent (cm) (if comparing to a traditional geometry) 52 54 56 58 60
    Seat Tube (mm) – Centre to Top 500 520 540 560 580
    Equivalent Top Tube Length (mm) – Centre to Centre 530 540 550 566 577
    Seat Angle (deg) 74.6 74 73.5 73 73
    Head Angle (deg) 72 72.5 73 73 73.5
    Head Tube Length (mm) 120 135 150 165 180

I have no idea why the head angle 'should be 71.5' unless it is a extra small frame. In fact having looked at Litespeed, Lynskey, Van Nichols all have the same head angles of between 72-73 depending on frame size.

This is pretty good, comes with a decent fork and good(ish) headset:

    http://www.cycleswag.com/cycleswag/fram ... eadset.php

The link might say "EC70" but it's an Alpha Q fork really which are top notch.

It's expensive too normally - that fork is normally around £200, so that frameset is a "bargain*"

If you look at the Fatbirds site there are deals on titanium frames for about £799 including forks and headset - so the Planet X deal isn't amazing - it's decent - just not amazing if you're looking for really aggressive pricing.

I always like to compare like with like - The PX is a double butted frame, the cheapest double butted frame from Fatbirds is I think £1,250 (With fork & headset) The cheapest Sabbath double butted frame is I think £1599 with fork.
The only really comparative frame to the PX Sportive is the Enigma Etape at £1,130 frame only.
That PX price is a bargain.

There's a thorough and interesting article by a US vendor of Chinese ti frames here:

Personally I prefer the idea of a Lynskey american-made frame, over a chinese made frame with cheap forks and headset.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Chinese built, it's just Lynskey have such a good reputation.

Care to explain why my forks and headset are 'cheap'?

Where do PX source their forks?

To OP, Greg Roche is a member of this forum, and may butt in with his five penneth....

Cro Magnon headset? never heard of them

ITM Visia fork - cheap and Nasty.

My P-X is going to have a Chris King headset and EC90 SLX fork

They'll be your choice, not shop spec...
We all have choices, if I rub away at the Ritchie graphics, maybe I'll uncover 'Cro Magnon'... Maybe not.
I take it the VNT AX Carbon are just rebadged ITM Visia's.

The frame is Chinese, yes, but the rest of the bike is what you make it, depends on the depth of your pocket, etc...

You should all sell up and get a Litespeed Siena.

    It's the only sensible choice.

Well the P-X is frame only......so of course it'll be my choice.

And the VN I (me - which I was I talking about in the post you originally quoted) was considering came with the ITM fork and Cro Magnon, where was I talking about what you bought?

I take it you never read the posts properly?

    Calm down.

I'm confused enough as it is about my options, without a squabble.

I need a new car as well. It never ends.

    I did read the posts...

The VN's, like the PX's are available to any spec you wish.
You appeared to state that if you bought a VN, it would be Chinese (true), with cheap forks and headset (it's all optional)

Vacpots are superb if you have a good bean and it is fresh.
Anyone neat Nottingham is welcome to try some if they are near. Trust me, they are as good as it gets when it comes to coffee.

Now, do I want 2 or 3 wheels on this ti bike I am thinking about?

Keep us posted on the fork and indeed finishing kit choice redddraggon, interesting as I just may go down the same route. CK headset a no-brainer of course!

Fork will probably be an EC90 SLX. Got a Chris King headset on the way too.

I've got a 120mm 6deg 3T Arx Team stem and 40cm Rotundo Pro bars sitting on my desk for it too. Everything else is coming off the Nero Corsa until I can afford Athena/Chorus 11spd. So it's going to be largely 2008 Centaur with a FSA Gossamer Chainset (it's actually loads better than the Carbon Centaur c/set it replaced)

If a non-setback post works, I'll replace the Thomson Elite I've been using on my Nero Corsa with a 3T Doric. And when money allows an Arione with carbon rails.
