  • Fabian's power and cadence were awesome, but he also gained a hell of a lot of time by not slowing down through the corners. His bike handling is second to none. 8)

    What was Wiggos mechanical then?

Report on front page just says, front mech issues, which is odd one, there isn't that much that can go wrong, and what does can normally be fixed pretty sharp-ish.

a trad shifter, easy to fix. An electronic shifter, not quite so easy...

Brad said the chain off the big ring then knocked the rear brake so it was touching the wheel.
It seems the brake is behind the bottom bracket.
His car had been pulled over by the commissaires and his initial frustration was seeing how far away they were.

I agree with him regarding Larsson getting 2nd place because he was level with Pinotti at 9 Km's and at 16.6 Km's they were both 9/10 secs down on Martin.
The next check at 25.76 Km's and Larsson has been passed by Spartacus and he has now sucked a 12 secs lead over Martin and 15 secs over Pinotti in those 5 miles.
He then continues in this different league to finish better by 1 min 8 secs (Martin) 1min 16 secs (Pinotti) and on the road he is only 27 seconds behind Spartacus at the Finish. ??? Lucky Boy

This is getting daft. Paces vary in TT's.

    Time check 1 - 16.6km

    1 Fabian Cancellara (Switzerland) 0:19:05
    2 Tony Martin (Germany) 0:00:38
    3 Gustav Larsson (Sweden) 0:00:46
    4 Marco Pinotti (Italy) 0:00:48
5 Tom Zirbel (United States) 0:00:59

    Time Check 2 - 33.2km

    1 Fabian Cancellara (Switzerland) 0:38:20
    2 Gustav Larsson (Sweden) 0:01:43
3 Tom Zirbel (United States) 0:01:34
    4 Tony Martin (Germany) 0:01:53
    5 Marco Pinotti (Italy) 0:01:53

So first check Zirbel is down on Martin, 2nd check he's well up. And all of those without Cancellera.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

Phillip Gilbert would testifty to that he was thuping all and sundry at the 1st time check at the Vuelta lst week and by the 2nd time check he was way off the pace. This Larsson thing by Wiggins is a smokescreen to cover up his annoyannce at being pasted imo.

That's harsh, Davey. Wenger wouldn't have seen the incident.

That Zirbel rode three hours before the others and therefore in different conditions because the organisers didn't know him. (so I didn't mention him)
A rule in this country is you give the contenders the same conditions to race and what is more we don't have the Scratch men all starting on top of each other at the back of the field.
They did the same Idiotic thing in a Tour de France Prolog with the two scratch men starting within a minute at the back and they say the ISO don't like Lancy.

The figures you show with Zirbel included, do only enforce my point that the Silver medal is not a True Result.
That Larsson improves his performance after Cancellara has passed him just after the 16.6 Km's checkpoint. (just over 10 miles of a 31 mile race)
At that point Cancellara is only 13 secs behind Larsson (ie 47 secs better) and then when Cncellara Finishes we find Larsson following him in just 27 seconds later.

  • From JV's Twitter:
Fabian takes the corners like Valentino Rossi. He's gaining 1-2 seconds per turn... Not to mention he's going faster everywhere else too.

Already 20-30 seconds ahead of everyone after 11 minutes of effort. Only a mechanical or mishap can stop him.

Hoooo.... Cancellara... Wow. He's killing it.
