Here is the full route (It wouldn't let me add Swiss Hill!).

For the masochists there is the option of doing Toot Hill rather than Standing Stone in Macc Forest, we would meet back together at the top.

    I wish. 34-24 or 34-19.

I might just add a small sprocket inbetween the cassette to get rid of the 27. Infact I've just had a brainwave, swap the 23 cog on my commuter bike with the 27 on my main bike :D I'm off to do it now!

I like that route, especially the bit where we go round the roundabout the wrong way, at the A537. Should be good fun, that. 8)

It was hard doing the first half on 39x27. But then again I'm heavily overweight, unfit with a gammy leg. I'm going to do it on the Look with a compact chainset I think.

No one should be put off by the route though as people will be waiting at the top. I'm looking forward to it!

It was a moment of madness, I've decided not to change it now, no point, it's got 19,21,24,27, so I can just sit in 21 or 24, 19,21,23,24 would be really odd I think. I've done those climbs in macc forest before but I can't decide which one is the hardest, they seem similar, well one is suddenly steep and longer whilst the other one is gradual then a steep bit which does appear steeper than the longer steep climb.

I won't be coming to this, well there might be a slight possibility, just I've got some stuff I need to do this week for YWT and I wanna see the finish of the tour of britain in York.

Hopefully you can arrange some other rides, or even I can, but I'm sure I'll see some of you on wheelers rides

I'll come if I'm in Manchester. I'm only taking half of my stuff back tomorrow, it's cheaper to stay at home another week.

That weekend I’ll be in the area visiting my family (about 3/4 hour away from Alderley Edge by car), so if the weather sounds okay I might come along. Although I’d rather the route were an hour or more shorter, because of trying to divide time between spending time with family and spending time on the ride.
If I do come, you’ll also have to put up with a steel frame – I sold my alu Giant TCR C2 about a month ago, to make way for, and get cash for, an all carbon bike, but which I haven’t yet chosen, nevermind ordered.

I did the manc 100 this weekend so feeling a bit guilty about another full day out cycling. I'm going to drive out to alderley and will stick with you until Sutton (shortly after the cafe stop) and then I'll cycle back to alderley via macc and then out on the prestbury road
    something like this:

If the weather is ok, I'll be there. Where do you after Swiss Hill. i know it comes out onto the main road and you can turn right back into A-Edge.

After Swiss Hill turn right, back down the hill, right at the bottom and you are at Alderley Edge Station...

There seems to be a lot of 'depends on the weather' people!!!
  • where did this thread spring from???
I'm interested but I'm in the same boat as popette as we did the Manc 100.

If I can get a pass from the wife and kids I'll be there, my climbing isn't as good as I'd like it to be but it'll only get better if I hit those hills where it hurt.

Of course it depends on the weather. If I see that's pouring down I have no intention of riding 60 miles, get covered in cack and have to clean the bike. That's beside the worry of crashing on slippy corner or having to brake quick.

I would come but the trains from North Wales to Manchester/Alderly Edge are dodgy on a Sunday morning.
