The 3 Silence-Lotto Vans are in the front group too... Avermaet, Summeren and den Broeck. Plus Monfort, Bak, Langeveld, Gavazzi...

Peloton is 1 minute behind. No Garmins in the front group, so it's just them chasing. 23 km to go.

EBH just won an intermediate sprint.

Ugh, Garmin getting help now from CdE, Katusha and Milram. Gap down to 35". 15 km to go.

Lars Bak wins, EBH 2nd... Farrar/Wiggins group 28 seconds down.

    Top 4:

    Bak
    EBH
    Gavazzi
    Van Aver

    ...I think.

EBH should be the new leader.
  • Big Boy Break hanging on for 85kms. Down to just 16" lead, with 9kms to go, but it was just enough.
Chavanel throws everything but the kitchen sink at the group, but is a marked man.
    Garmin out to lunch.
Nibali crashes inside the final 3kms, but will he be credited with the same time as LYB, the group or tough shit?

Wiggins finished 10 minutes down in the end  The cyclingnews site says he was at the front of the lead group with 48kms left so he must have got dropped on the climbs and then sat up, realising the overall was gone and just trying to save his energy for tomorrow

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/eneco- ... -6/results

Cyclingnews gives Nibali as losing 2 minutes but then only being 20 odd seconds down on overall. The official site agrees with him not being far behind so it looks like he should have been down as finishing at +2 seconds instead of minutes.

Kinda weird though, 'cos the overall wasn't gone if he'd stayed in the bunch. They only finished 31 seconds down... I can't see how he would have been dropped, because the course was much easier than yesterday. He even tried to bridge across to the big favourites group with about 50 km to go.

The official site has Nibali +2 seconds for the stage...

Yeah it is a bit strange. Maybe he paid after the big effort to try and bridge the gap and just couldnt hold onto the back on one of the climbs or maybe had a badly timed mechanical. When he realised he couldnt get back to the group and was going to lose minutes maybe he just sat up at that point rather than go full blast and still be out of the overall standings. Just speculating but i cant see why else he would have lost time. Nothing on his twitter- although he mentions he is doing the TDU. Hopefully he can do a good TT tomorrow :)

I didn't see today's stage. Boasson Hagen won. He seems to be the only guy in the race apart from Farrar.

    Short highlights:
    http://www.sport.be/enecotour/2009/fr/v ... 171329.xml

EBH now has 21 secs over Farrar, which I imagine he will hold on to as tomorrow is only a 13km TT.

He is currently 19th on CQ ranking. He has already raced as many kms as last year (9.3k) - I wonder when he will stop his racing.

The third pan flat stage, raced under cloudless skies, again.
Pretty much a procession, after yesterday.

I notice that the Vuelta stages come much of the same ground.

Is it me or is Graham Brown looking a bit... er... portly, in that photo. No wonder he hasn't been doing the business for Ridgerider.

My Rabobank bibshorts arrived today to go with my jersey, so I am just waiting for the call...

...but I think it is more the case that he is not giving us the "cavendish grimace" like all the Columbia riders do.

...aka "the win grin", as opposed to the look of resignation you normally see on Rabo riders :wink:

    OOF, harsh!

Looking again, though, maybe it's the angle. Chicchi looks about the same size. Apologies to Mr Brown, Ridgerider and all Rabobank fans everywhere. All 3 of them.

I understand stage 2 is doing some of the horrible cobblestone stretches in that part of the country. They normally feature in the pro Tour of Drenthe and I think the women do an important race there (world cup?). That might shake up the siesta of some of the Spanish riders

    Final TT well underway.

According to the live ticker Wiggins starts furiously, sets best time at midway point, then it starts to rain, he slows down dramatically, and a bit further 'takes a wrong turn'....

that wasn't the best PTP choice

    current standings:
    1 T. De Gendt 00:16'32"
    2 J. Vansummeren 00:16'35"
    3 T. Martin 00:16'37"
    4 A. Rasmussen 00:16'38"
    5 J. Veikkanen 00:16'41"

    Sorry afx237vi.

I respect your totally sarcastic position on the matter, but do not believe that your comment is a true reflection of the untapped potential within the Rabobank squad should they manage to stay on their bikes or avoid getting shot at.

    Cum on Jooooost.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Ridgie, my man, but I've highlighted the most pertinent point in the above paragraph. Joost appears to have been out training with Denis. And Brownie. And Gesink.

Thought it might have been Menchov at first :-)

EBH wins again, TT and overall. Amazing performance.
