I'd have to be out the house at 8. As if that's gonna happen!

It's me flatmate's birthday celebrations this weekend anyway, so I can quite confidently rule myself out on the grounds of being unfit through alcohol.

    I can do this Sunday!

15/16mph = 26-30kmh ish which should be ok. It's much nicer building up speed on the quieter country roads than London.

    hmm

8.45 in London is VERY early for me to get to. And though I have managed a massive 45 miles this week, I am not quite back in the game for your liking.

But I am child-free and a little tempted

Maybe. I'm supposed to be driving oop north with the missus to go visiting friends, but the car has a tyre that is losing pressure. I might "forget" to get it fixed...
No promises but if I'm in that London this weekend then I will definately be there.

I'll definitely be there on the 13th Sept but can we start a little later than 8.45am? I have to get across to Richmond from Greenwich and I'm not completely sure of the route so I'd have to be leaving painfully early on a Sunday morning just to reach the start at 8.45am

I'm happy but we'll have to see what others think. The early start idea was to make this ride more feasible for those with families - early start means they can be home in time for lunch without losing too many brownie points.

We can have a good natter about RLJ...

OK, well as late as we can make it, even if it's 9am, although 9.30am would be even better. God, no more RLJ-ing. Even I'm bored of that now. In fact I think I'll stop RLJ-ing just so we don't have to talk about it anymore....

By September I should have some gears, so I MIGHT do a better job of keeping up.

Sorry to hear that, James. Quite understand.

I may have to bail on the hills ride as well: work is intruding with deadlines galore this week and unfortunately I can't let them whoosh past*. I may try to get a couple of hours in the park, though...

    Hope all is well IP.

Will keep an eye on this thread as would certainly be keen to get involved in some group rides. Don't know the Surrey Hills well, and riding in a group is just plain sociable. So count me in.

Thanks guys. My Gran has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer which isn't great news obviously. Still it's been caught early so fingers crossed the docs can operate soon and sort things out.
