WTF - Cunego renews with Lampre.

Practically all the big name Italians linked with Sky are going elsewhere.

Iain I know you don't like/think much of charters, but Gert's case was high profile so Shack signing him is not a good PR move IMO. Maybe they want a sprinter - he will get eaten alive. Maybe they want a classics man - he will get crushed.

Maybe they just want a good strong rouleur to play a team role in the classics / flat GT stages. He only ever seems to ride well when he's doing a team job, and he's kind of Hincapie-esque when you think of it.

They also had Van Heeswijk for a similar role a few years ago. Vaitkus, too.

Dirk Demol is building a decent classics squad so someone like Gert fits in there.

wait for the sprint, not yet wait, no not yet, save your energy, not yet, just a bit longer and you will know when to go.

Seems to be the same with all this sky sh*t.
Hype it's called and they told you that much with not playing while the football master class is in operation.
The other "Hype" master class will be coming from shack attack. !

"Buying chairs for our big interview tomorrow. Hope you will all watch."

im guessing multiple riders and management, surely they would only need to buy chairs if they need some extras due to a large number of guests?

  • Jens Voigt has signed for another year! How much racing has this guy got in his legs...

    And from another forum.
Apparently, Astana is having more money problems with a PT license, so they released Contador. He may be going to:

    Garmin
    Caisse d'Epargne
    Liquigas

The announcement should be made on Sunday or Monday...

Baden Cooke to Saxo bank. What a strange signing for Riis unless Cooke is going for budget wages nowdays.

Interesting... very interesting! Anymore word on this???

Would be a good domestique for the Classics, unfortunately joined some teams that didnt really help him ie UniBet. No doubt McGee being a director at Saxo would have weighed heavily

Which Sunday or Monday was that?

He needs to make his mind up what he wants to do and stop dithering.

Astana wants at least £2.5 mil euros to release him, he wants another team to buy him out but none can afford it.
So he either buys himself out, or decides to stay and make the best of it for another year.
In the mean time there are probably others who have their lives on hold waiting to make the decision whether to leave, or join Astana based on what Contador is doing.
Astana want to build a team around him but are going to have few options left if he doesn't decide soon.
If he decides to go, then Astana get on rebuilding without him. The extra cash will come in handy.
  • It's like the deal in Formula 1. Everyone is waiting until Fernando Alonso is announced for Ferrari before they do their deals, eg. Renault want Kovalainen, Mclaren want Rosberg Williams want.....

In this case, Sky want Wiggins, so they want Garmin to buy Contador out so that they can buy Wiggins out....

Theo Bos is leaving Rabobank: http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza/wielrenn ... t_rabobank
They couldn't agree over the conditions of a transfer from the Continental to the Protour team.
Now what was that new British team again that didn't have a sprinter on its roster yet?

If the Paras don't get him first....

Lots of reports Wiggins is going to Sky

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/se ... s-team-sky

If he has, he's clearly not bothered about having any grand tour support, eh?

  • Skil-Shimano have dropped their ProTour application.(reported on cycling news) Now 7 teams chasing 7 licences. Sky & Shack assured of a protour licence now? Would appear so.

Hands up all those who believe him.

Of course there is an element of truth to it, we know the stated ambition of Team Sky and Wiggins is currently the only strong candidate with a chance of achieving this. Vaughters continued pursuit of Contador is hardly likely to please Wiggins either.

So lets see. Bradley will have ridden for Linda McCartney Racing Team, Française des Jeux, Crédit Agricole, Cofidis, Team High Road, Garmin–Slipstream and Sky in less than a decade.

    Wot a tart!

  • Wasn't Team Sky's stated ambition to have a British Tour winner in four to five years? So it doesn't matter if they have Wiggo this year, I thought it was more about building up the likes of Kennaugh and Froome and then building a team in a couple of years.

Obvioulsy would be great to get him, and Vaughters is lying if he says there's no truth to it, because obviously Wiggins would want to be back with the people that gave him his success in the first place.

Wiggins has also said he's very happy where he is and that a lot of the press are going to be disappointed.

Might I also add, he was toilet on the road until he joined Father Vaughters merry mob....

Sorry, I don't know how I missed this. Must be blind. Didn't want to duplicate, but, I'm sure as the rumour mill hots up, once again, the individual thread has some mileage.

But wasn't the change in road ability due to backroom boys at BC saying...'here look your power output is dead good, you could be really good on the road if you do x,y, z" Nothing to do with Vaughters and the Garmin setup. Garmin setup relaxed enough to let BW do his own thing hence

    atmosphere + BC advice/plan = success story.

Brailsford didn't say "No" to the story, rather he denied that anyone involved in Team Sky had leaked it.
