You can't tell me i'm the only girlie in Leeds ?
  • Hello! :D

Just purchased a Kona Kula to take advantage of the winter. My Roadie friends are too namby pamby to get out an a MTB, so am going it alone around Richmond Park (I know, not that adventerous) at the moment. Sick of cycling on MTB on my own ALL the time.

Have done a little road cycling, but am rather slow (15mph average over about 50 miles) - but virtual MTB novice.

Recently visited nearby to Swinley Forest, but chum I went with now moved abroad :( so am wondering if any girls go out around that area? Live in South West London - but can get anywhere if there is a train station nearby!

Trek Madone 5200 - for joy
    Kona Kula - for mud
1970's Peugeot Roadie - soon to be a single speed
    Giant commuter - for sanity

  • Hi pinnaclered,
I live in LS17. There is a regular Weds night ride if you fancy tagging along, It always starts round Ls17 as we're right next to the start of many routes. We do sometimes go further a field like the Dales, North Yorks an the Peaks at weekends.

Sorry to infiltrate this thread for my own benefit but I'm seeking a female riding partner in the Oxford/Thames Valley area and thought I'd jump on the bandwaggon!

Are there any MTBing chicks near me looking for a male riding buddy? If so, PM me!

Hey, you still doing these night rides? I am guessing you're heading along the meanwood valley trails etc? I may fancy hooking up with you guys sometime, I live in Meanwood so could ride up to alwoodley.
  • spragglerocks,
At the moment no as one of us seems to be ill or family members being ill. We don't really go on Meanwood Valley trail. When we have got out it's been very last minute and during the day. With Xmas coming up it's all school xmas stuff, So fingers crossed in the New year things might get back to norm.

Over on shecycles.net we organise a monthly easy ride - so if anyone's a beginner, unfit, slow or just plain lazy (like me!) have a look and come and join us :D
For those who are fitter and faster, there's various other rides happening over there too.

I'm a Londoner! And near Hackney, too - I'm in Wanstead. I ride as much as possible from where I live, ie north from the Leyton Flats, up towards Epping Forest proper.

I am a relative beginner but quite fit and really keen to improve and get out there as much as possible, whatever the weather.

I've not had much luck finding riding buddies yet, although I sometimes go out with a friend of mine, and sometimes with my BF. What days/where are riding?

    Hi,

I'm in on the North Wales / Cheshire border and would be interested in teaming up with others for some MTBing now and again. I'm more used to biking alone (as my husband doesn't cycle, BUT is finally learning).

I'm not overly confident in my ability / pace / etc. compared to others, which is probably why I don't mind going out for a blast on my own. I've cycled on and off in some capacity all my life, so have a bit of a life-long interest / obsession with bikes. After a year or so lay-off, I have renewed enthusiasm and my first FS bike.

I'm a not very sensible 42 y.o. who doesn't like falling off. I enjoy ascents as much as descents, which some regard as a bit weird. My work hours are very flexible, so can sometimes manage mid-week outings, when it's pleasanter and quiter!

I hope I haven't put everyone off

Hi :) Anyone riding in the Inverness area? I usually ride alone (only cos I don't know many people around here who ride) but would happily ride with some buddies for the craic. I mostly end up at Learnie, Carbisdale, Balblair (where I usually fall off) or on the trails around Fyrish. I'd be interested in a wee spin to Golspie as I've never been there before.

    Thanks

I'm in Chessington but more limited to the Common and Horton as I'm using my hybrid because my MTB has got gear problems and I've managed to get to be a size 20 as I stop off at too many pubs!

    <waves> :)

Hi! I'm on the edge of Hackney Marshes. I don't know Epping Forest very well but have ended up there quite a few times (always getting lost and never finding any decent singletrack). I know a few of the good trails in Surrey Hills but again get lost there/can't find trails the next time I go - maybe my internal satnav is on the blink! I don't know Leyton Flats at all! Must investigate!

Just back from a mental week's downhilling in Fort William and am having a little break frm vigorous biking to let the bruises & cracks recover. I'm also busy on Saturdays until 2pm at the moment but could be up for later rides while there's still some light!) or Sundays. If you fancy getting into more downhill-type stuff come to Aston Hill/Chicksands etc - there's a group of blokes on the London Calling thread that go regularly and I'll be joining them (some of them were in FW too).

To be honest I'm more likely to be riding on weekdays for the next month or two since I'm not working for a while and looking at my calendar a lot of Sat/Suns are already booked up. After that things should be more normal though! Maybe we should start a NE London Bird's Rideouts thread to post proposed outings to!? :)

I've got a road bike too and could do with doing some miles to counteract my love of food, so if you/anyone would be into that too give me a shout! The evenigns are still light til after 8 at the moment, so maybe some after-work rides would be an idea? :)

Ehh, I know i shouldn't be really here but lady or not you are welcome at London Calling thread. I wouldn't really be concerned if you thought you weren't fit, as most probably all Sunday warriors aren't. We do rides in Surrey hills, Swinley, Aston etc and sometimes even go to SWales these days. Transport wise, things can be arranged with some riders living near you, so it's decent enough in that respect. Also, we are not cycling club by any means but just some leisurely enthusiasts who tries to point out to their better half: - look darling, women do MTB ! I wish my wife did cycle with me.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though
  • Hi all,

I'm not really new, I've been throwing myself down hills without any sort of skill since I was likkle, but I am new to doing it properly!
I'm based near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, and have ridden Aston Hill (or its ridden me, I still haven't quite figured out which it is yet!!), and I've just got my hands on a rather lovely Giant Reign 2 (upgrading from my Specialized HardRock Pro Disc) which I'm desperate to take out for a bit of mayhem.
Any girlies welcome to join me.
I have a car, bike rack, and am willing to travel within reason!

    Cheers
    Nic
