Richard Moore's book about Robert Millar has an amusing anecdote whereby a crowd of Glaswegian cyclists had travelled to the south of france to support Millar but ended up leaving a note on the windscreen of his team car because he constantly snubbed and ignored them.
IIRC it was something along the lines of "dear Robert we've travelled from Glasgow to see you" blah blah "and you won't even do us the courtesy of saying hello. You are an ignorant Bastard! P.S. and Phil Liggett agrees with us"
