    O.K. let's try again here.
I don't really care who you like or dislike. That's your business.
I'm not one way or another about LA, or anyone else, that I haven't met, for that matter.
I take that back. I just can't stand Tom Cruise or Kevin Costner. Not sure why but that's the way it is.
Anyway, I'm just pointing out that this "dislike" of a person colors your judgement of
said person. Making pretty much anything you hear or read about them, "the truth", as long as it's bad, and anything that you hear or read that might be good or positive has got to be "false". I'll leave it at that.

I completely disagree, but there you go. Let's leave it at that.

PS Kevin Costner supports Arsenal. You can use that as your reason. Tom Cruise don't need no reasons.

Yes, because they saw him talking to Lance Armstrong. Apparently they're completely unable to form an opinion of someone without letting their irrational hatred of LA cloud their judgement. Fact.

Ah now Dennis, you have just gone too far with that comment!

Yeah. Clive Tyldsley is a die hard Man Utd fan and Cav supports Leeds, so they have to hate each other.

I think it's because all their movies seem really bad to me.

I assure you Dennis, that Costner's playing of Robin Hood, with that accent of his, was worse for us Brits

I can't stand Nicholas Cage either.

Mel Gibson anyone (apart from the first Max films)?

I have to say that my original posting has nothing to do with my opinion on LA, its completely about my shock at how far Liggett has fallen. To actually say what he did about Bertie, for me, is just shocking... I suppose i should count my blessings that Sherwin didn't get to say anything...

Oh and by the way, Costner - American Flyers - right on!

I've a nasty feeling that Gibson is Austrailian (still that's no excuse for some of his rubbishy output, not to mention his seeming hatred of the British, and he hasn't even met most of us!!! )

As for Robin Hood, the placing of the White cliffs of Dover within walking distance of Nottingham got to me nearly as much as Costner's accent, there's a rumour that in test audiences there was cheering for Alan Rickman's character causing a re-edit before release too.

I've just listened to the interview with Ligget and I think what he is trying to say is that Contador should have pulled Armstong to the summit of every climb and the pulled over to let him win and that he should have ridden both time trials (but not the TTT obviously) with the brakes on.
Please correct me if I have misinterpreted his comments.

    .
Mel Gibson is American but spent part of his youth in Australia.
Don't think he hates the British, just the English

Phil has always been biased towards the english speaking riders (except Robert Millar).
He would always bang on about Phil Anderson, Kelly, Roche, Yates, LeMond etc.
He was appalled at Hinault's " treachery" in the 86 tour

You're almost there, he should have rode the TTT with his brakes on too but only in the last 500m so that the 5th man went across ok, but he lost time.

Liggett's favouritism is understandable given that both Phil and Paul's media company from which they lease out their commentary (sorry don't know the name) are on the Livestrong payroll. You'll be hard pressed to hear anything negative about lance for the 3 week telecast and absolutely never ever a reference to the D-bomb!! Personally, I consider it a conflict of interest given that the commentary should always remain neutral.

What's the most disappointing I guess is how much the casual audience just lap it up as the truth. I know I just cringe when my mates regurgitate that crap that P&P spiel on our weekend rides.
    what he said.

For me their time has come and fresh commentators are needed.

Apparently Liggett was attempting an impromptu interview at some race or other and RM just turned his back on them and walked the other way. Would have been hugely embarrassing in the present era of live ITV4 broadcasts, though they have Ned Boulting as their stooge nowadays.

I listen to Pedro Delgado and friends over the internet waves.

The comment from Delgado about Armstrong when the 3 were in the podium is classic though:

If he was going to be that misserable in the podium he should have lost more time!

I heard RM never appreciated Phil Liggett very much after hearing that Mr L had said that the Scot had first seen the TdF on the television of a tv rental shop , implying that they couldn't afford a tele' . :?

IF, BIG IF, true then it would seem that RM, who was a prety good rider, was also pretty good at carrying a grudge. over pretty much nothing. IF, BIG IF.

The amount of forum space devoted to presentors is amazing! There are so many threads. It doesn't interest me in the least which is why I don't click onto them or comment, but came across this and maybe some of you may like it. It is from 2007.

you just hate it when someone that's not a hateboy on a cycling forum speaks what was obvious.

You need to get over the idea that he's perfect and be a little concerned that's he's not the brightest bulb on the tree and he just might be vulnerable to mind games.
