Do you need to have potentially exciting stages to get you watching or is that through circumstances ? Me i will watch any pro cycling race on TV potential excitement or otherwise.

I usually would watch anything but for the Tour I follow it on cyclingnews text report, if it sounds reasonable I watch it.

    Enjoying the HD pictures MG?

Yea superb though sometimes you forget you have (or the missus does when she records it ) it and watching normal definition and you sense something is not quite right :-)

The break looks doomed to failure.
The bunch was bearing down when Chavanel, Moreno and Haussler put in a dig and now the trio has three minutes in the space of no time. Miserable conditions on the road, the rain should suit Chavanel.

The break of 3 now has 5 minutes. Knew it was only a matter of time until Chavanel got into a big break!

But, as Haussler is also in this break - look for the bunch to pull them back and Cavendish to beat him by half a tire width on the line.

Oh wait - that already happened in another race. ;)

Bout time I got a man in a break.

It's getting lively on the climb now. Funny to see them in the rain jackets, swelling up the wind. Why do manufacturers make them with such big and unaerodynamic sleeves?

I thought Boonen had a trendy puffa jacket.

Big group off the front and riders out the back, on the Schlucht.
    Action!....
More asscam shots of Armstrong asking Bruyneel to ask Pat to get this wet stage neutralised.

Oooh Astanarama, now on the front. Not happy with this big break.

Great weather - going to take extra energy with those jackets.

Blimey that boy can climb. I'm really enjoying his performances.

So far confrimed in lead group:
    Egoi Martinez (Euskaltel)
    Amets Txurruka (Euskaltel)
    Franco Pellizotti (Liquigas)
    Fabian Cancellara (Saxo)
    Sergio Paulhino (Astana)
    Maxime Monfort (Columbia)
    Christophe Kern (Cofidis)

We're still compiling the list, but the group is now 25 seconds up the road.

Monfort could be viewed as a threat. He's only 2:21 out of the lead.

Looks good. Astana are towing the bunch, not sure why since Brice Feillu is hardly a big worry. This should open up the race for later. Or at least I hope.

Lots of orange jackets on the front. With the other news from today, some eyebrows might be raised.

Monfort is only 2.21 back on GC. Maybe that is why Astana rode and caught the group.
