DDL is nuts. You won't ride Menchov off the wheel. He needs to slow up, change the pace and attack.

Armstrong sticking with Sastre. I guess he figures Sastre last won the Tour - so if he sticks with him he can beat him this year! :o

Agreed, apparently Menchov cannot deal with the changes of pace very well...

Which is why Contador will tear him to pieces.

Menchov is just sitting on Di Luca's wheel, he looks like he could pass and drop Di Luca with ease.

Ok this is a bit nuts. Di Luca looks like he is trying to kill himself yet Menchiv looks like his on the flat on a training ride - no breathing, no grimacing and no out the saddle riding.

    Garzelli keeps coming back.

    Shame for Sastre.

YES Menchov cracks on the line. Maybe he is human. 3-4 secs or so for Di Luca.

AC might win the Tour on Bonifications...

Just because a rider isn't chewing his bar tape and dribbling doesn't mean his legs aren't hurting like hell.

Pellozotti didn't look like he was suffering at the end. Maybe he should have gone harder. Either way, good ride by him, Garzelli and Di Luca.

Only they don't have bonus seconds in the Tour any more.

As the others say, Menchov is a big diesel and can't cope with accelerations. But everyone is wise to Contador's accelerations, the Spaniard can jump everyone to the point where few will follow him, they will prefer to let him get 100m and then work to peg him back, as we've seen a few times his accelerations are good but he sometimes struggles to pull out the lead he needs.

26 secs for Di Luca on Menchov. Pellizotti 3rd. Sastre lost his podium.

Was that a slight crack, finally from Menchov? Pity about those lost 5.5kms. Seems the could have made all,the difference.

Bet he gives Garzelli a nice big kiss for that. Especially if he loses the GC for 3 seconds!
Still the DDL haters will be please.

I'm not sure Menchov winning it is much better. Although there is something about DDL which comes over as particularly objectionable somehow; perhaps because he's so patently been getting away with it for so long (e.g. 3 months for oil for drugs... in the Winter! , Baby wee OK because of sample handling contraventions etc.). Whereas I reckon Menchov is on borrowed time McD-wise.

You can dress it up all you like as 'good tactics' or 'clever riding' but Menchov is proving to be the biggest wheelsucker of them all - he has never once gone to the front of the race whilst in the leader's jersey. He makes Leipheimer and Evans look like the most super combative riders in the peloton

Bow by Di Luca on the podium!

Sounds like the crowd were not happy that Garzelli pipped Di Luca...

Which is why hardly any Tifosi like him! I agree though, although it is not required of him to do it, a true champion attacks even he has the leader's jersey.
