after reading this thread, i was trying to think of something pointless that i would want to get and at the same time thinking "would that not be better saving the money up for something actually useful??".... i received an email from Lorne (from Wiggle) saying they looked at my account and because i haven't buy stuff from them for a while, they offer me a £5 voucher (for the next 2 weeks)....
surely that is a sign......"It is not impossible, its just improbable"

Well, have just ordered my Saint stuff from CRC...
Saint double plus bash
Saint medium cage rear mech
Saint shifters
XT front mech
Goodridge carbon gear hose (didn't get the 'kit' just the outer)
ODI Extreme lock on grips
Decided against new chain/cassette as the combo I already have (PG-980 / PC 991) is only a couple of months old and in all fairness is top notch!!!
Can't wait til it all turns up Saturday0 -
Cheesey, you excited yet???

got thining whilst cleaning the bike of this avo, pointless bling especially and was looking at my gold chain and thought, Yep this defo qualifies! no advantage over the silver version apart from looks!
although the spare links from my previous and this one have made a rather cool Biker bling Gold chain bracelet for my wrist! 8)Timmo.

Make sure your get the tissues out for when you see the rear derailleur!! You'll need them haha0 -
Just built up a Nicolai Helius CC in Black ano.
All I need now are red hope skewers, BB & floating rotors to match the red hope head set & seat clamp.
I'd really like to replace the black hope Pro II hubs with Red ones too.
Would rather like a set of Sunline V1 cabon bars to replace the V2's on there. And thats about it.
other than a X9 rear mech & shifters to replace the X7 fitted.
Not much then0 -

I have just sold X9 rear mech and shifters for £80 the lot - brand new - you should have said I would have given you first dibs!0 -
I'd never heard of Industry 9 wheels. Now I want some for my MTB and my road bike. I'm such a bike tart!0

2D helmet just arrived - it's a thing of beauty! And safer of course...0
-
Matt - Ha ha - I knew you'd get it... what are we like ha ha0
-
Cheesey -I found somewhere selling an 08 one in the right size - so it was a bit cheaper. Wife is out - time for that sheepish "I've just had this delivered.." followed by a minor bo77ocking!
It's is a big improvment on my Giro Encinal though - better fit, half the weight, etc!0 -

Since I have been single I no longer have that 'dread' feeling, waiting for the missus to get home ha ha
.. or the time that I told her that my XTR crank set cost £40 lol
I was living in a web of deceit0 -
that is standard practise for me.
"that's a lot of stuff, was it expensive"
"no, no darling, XTR is actually japaneese for cheap and cheerful"
To be fair though, I buy it so it should be irrelavent what it costs.
I am heavily resisting buying more things at the moment - got into a downward sprial last year which lead to numerous arguments. (got some cool gear though.. ).Not really active0 -
A bit of pointless...well not so much bling is a Dolan Singlespeed commuting bike.
I have no idea how I can get this past my g/f! We have no room to keep it, well i reckon we do but she doesnt . I need to convince her that me commuting on one of my mtb's is just costing more in spares than a dirty old SS that I can lock up anywhere!
Gotta have one...!Scott Ransom 10
Stumpy FSR Comp
Wilier Izoard
1994 Shogun Prairie Breaker Expert...ahhh yesssss
'I didnt need those front teeth anyway..'0 -
Cheesey - that's a good one - XTR crank for £40!
This helmet was £70 instead of £110. To the wife it was £50 with huge emphasis on how much of a bargain that is. I still got in slight trouble (my birthday soon but I keep buying stuff before so she hasn't got anything left to get me)!
Helmet looks the mutts nuts though - got racy silver. Shame I can't match it's performance
And there I was about a year ago talking about how pointless expensive headwear is. I now score at leat 500 hypocrite points...0 -

I only decided this morning, saying that i've got no money so I woudln't have been able to by them anyway.
Pipe dreams are a wonderful thing0 -
Matt - just checked the helmet out - very nice, is that shiney carbon in-between the vents on the top - very nice - good deal too!!
I used to use a Giro Xen which I thought was ace, but now use a pisspot-style lid - I look like I'm going through a midlife crisis - a XC-specific helmet is on the cards... I think it will have to be a cheap one as I have spent all my 'bike fund' on the Saint stuff0 -
