This is all getting a bit out of hand.

So obviously - new frame is easier is set up with new cables. And a new chain. I thought cassette would be ok with a newer chain, but swapped into onto Bike 2 (which has a newer chain than Bike 1 had) - errr, no. 16 Jumps like a b@stard. Shame you can't buy the individual sprockets. That would be too easy. New cassette.

And new bar tape. And while I think about it, that shifter that I mashed up in my frost fall looks a bit crappy to to on a new frame. New shifters please. And look at that rear mech. Ditto. And I've never really liked those bottle cages...

    And so it goes on.

    B@lls.

Greg you've committed now FFS it's already in the shop, Carbon is the new Alu move on don't look back etc etc it's for the best.

    G66 - you've got my sympathies. B@lls indeed.

Do you remember Voight's seat post failing on the Champs Elysees last year?
    FCN 2-4.

"What happens when the hammer goes down, kids?"
    "It stays down, Daddy."
    "Exactly."

I do. Nasty, that. IIRC the head of the post snapped clean off. He's such a b@stardly strong rider I'm not completely surprised, but it can't have been much fun riding out of the saddle for 20/30/40k.
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

    Bike 1
    Bike 2-A
  • Result! Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative have agreed to refund me my money. Madison (the distributor) offered an S1 replacment, but not until next month. Given that I've already been without bike for nearly three weeks now that was not acceptable.

Madison refused to budge, with an implication that frames like this shouldn't really be used for commuting. B*llocks. The point of the Cervelo blurb on the Team is that it's a tough bike that can take some punishment - that's why it had the anodysed finish in the first place.

Still good on EBC for recognising Madison's crappiness and offering the refund. I would encourage you to buy from them - they have been very helpful throughout.

I'm also 99% decided on the replacement. I wasn't joking when I said I was enjoying the single speed. It makes me work harder and go faster. So... the choice is... (I think) a fully uprgaded Peason Touche, with my old Orbea frame built up as my sunny summer roadie...
