I agree, I may harp on about my SCR not being stiff enough or wanting to upgrade every component but it would just hurt my soul to know that I spent four figure sums (£1000) on a product that has less build quality and longevity than something Argos or Halfords is selling.
Right now a Carrera Subway would have Cervelo owners less frustrated. Think about it...Food Chain number = 4

That's pushing it a little I feel, I think we should say "Action Bikes" instead!0 -

Good lord they don't look similar do they? I'm too scared to look.
Though I suppose it'll be harder for Cervelo riders to take. Getting mistaken for riding Langsters, Giants and Pinarellos....Food Chain number = 4

Weeeeellllll...
So far I've got to the point of having the option to upgrade.
The choice is this:
or this:
There's a cash requirement to upgrade to either. The red one would be cheaper. The black one would match Bike 2. I've had the red one before and sold it because I didn't really like it. This time I'd put up with it, treat it with abuse, and put black electrical tape over every bit of red on it like a courier wannabe. They should both ride the same.

The black one. Can't have you gaffer taping a Cervelo (even if it might help to hold it together)...

I prefer the black... The s3 is even lighter and apparently less harsh than the black one...0

Yes, but the S3 comes in two colour schemes: (a) appalling, and (b) white with Olympic rings. Ideal if you've competed in the Olys, or are a prize w@nker, otherwise, not so much...
Their current paint schemes, with the exception of Bike 2, which they haven't cokced around with too much, are universally dreadful.0 -

The white is utterly dreadful, I agree, but I quite like the black and grey!0 -

Oh, very good. Yes, indeed. That's really quite droll. I shall have to write that one done [etc...].
Just remind me Jash, how long is the warranty Pinarello offer? Is it lifetime or something a bit shorter?
[Obviously, having said this will result in the UK distributor turning round and telling me that despite what Cervelo say, my problem isn't a warranty issue... ]0 -

Did you consider the S3? If so, did you get as far as finding out how many wheels can't be used with it ...?
For a bunch of engineers, they really can screw the pooch sometimes...0 -

Yeah, I've wondered this.
Hmm. The black is definitely nicer. It's beautifully understated. But that's a lot of cash to stump up.
If you can put up with it, get the S3. It's still an extremely nice bike. If you can't put up with it, and don't want to stump the cash for the SL, what about getting the S3, selling it and buying, for example, a Canyon? Maybe this is a Higher Power telling you that it's time to move on to another model.FCN 2-4.

Boooo, I can;t see the bike p*rn so have no idea what youo lot are talking about.
IMO....give up on this love affair with expensive but flawed CF and get yourself a handbuilt Ti framed beauty......droooooooool!Roadie FCN: 3

I did look at the S3, yes, but dismissed it because the head tube ain't long enough before I even started looking at the wheels. However, the link on the cervelo site enlightened me...
For a brand that (allegedly) make such great bikes they really do duck up a fair bit, don't they?
Still like the S3 though0 -

Its a Merlin Cyrene. ITs a bit... 1990's... for the Texan who has everything I think. They aren't that bad (I saw one up close in Exeter once... whoo) but it doesn't strike me as a bike bought by people who are terribly interested in actually riding. For starters you'd have to clean it with a toothpick.

The carbon forks look totally wrong for that. If you are going to make an art statement then do it all the way.
I wouldn't mind the frame on its own hanging on a wall but ass a bike it is just too pretentious.Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

Reynolds forks. I have them. They're lovely. But not on that bike.
It looks even worse with the ITM stem. And is that some sort of ergo-friendly bar they've got.
All wrong.FCN 2-4.

Can you imagine if a toddler takes a half masticated biscuit from its mouth and puts it on the frame when you're not there. Those things harden faster that cement.FCN 2-4.

You've had the red one before and you didn't really like it but you would get another one? Doesn't make any sense to me. IIWMM, I would go for the '08 RS. Simple as that. Longer head tube makes sense, different geometry to the soloist and the R3, less sporty but more comfortable. The S3 you won't get in the Olympic colours anymore, that was a limited edition thank goodness imo, yukk! But the standard black and silver model is imo yummy and no, you can't fit certain wheels with it, and you can't fit Campag Record with it. But I would have it if I had the money. Over three grand for the frame, put DA on it and appropriate wheels, and there you go. Lovely. Elegant and I bet it goes like hell!!0 -
