  • Hi all!

Ive recently taken up the drug that is mountain biking! I went to the wyre forest last sunday to blow off the cobwebs, and noticed just how many fellow bikers were out and about.
I could really do with a group to go around with, as i dont know the trails that well and ended up riding far longer than anticipated!
Ive noticed a few other people on the site saying similar things and wondered if theres a group of fellow newbys on a sunday morning?

    Hi Newby,

Not sure what is happening this weekend, I'm riding just not 100% sure on time yet. There may be others riding, just watch this space.

To all those interested..... may be you could all throw in a few (Sunday) dates and see what come up.

I'm more than happy to show you all around at a slow pace, so no issues with ability and/or fitness, just riding with some chit chat and plenty of (snack) stops! ;-)

Let me know what you all think and we can sort something out.

    Cheers
  • Titterstone Clee Hill ride on Sunday - 1000 for 1030. Start at the Cleehill Quarry CP just off the A4117 Cleobury - Ludlow rd.

  • Hi Everyone :)

I hope you don't mind me posting on your ongoing post. I'm new to the forum and i'm not up to speed on forum etiquette yet :?

I have read about the wyre forest rides that take place and I am very interested to tag along if it would be possible? I live in stourbridge though and have no transport (not fishing for a lift) could you suggest any possible train stations near to the forest? I can only think of Kidderminster station but this would be quite a ride for me to get up to the forest.

Bearing in mind my lack of transport, if you think the forest isn't a viable option for me, do you know of any informal riding groups local to stourbridge?

    Many thanks, Gareth

    Hi, Gareth,

Myself and my other half live close to the station (Kidderminster) and plan on riding the Wyre this coming sunday if you fancy a lift from there!

We also do rides over clent, and know of people who have ridden there from further afield than stourbridge so id say that is definitely a viable option!

    Chris
  • Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply and the offer of a lift to the wyre. Unfortunately I have to attend my father in laws 60th birthday this coming weekend. However in the very near future I would like to maybe join you if that's ok? As I'm a first timer to the forest it would be good to get advice and learn the best trails from a regular.

I ride regularly over Clent and Kinver. Do you know if it's worth riding Walton hill or is it best to stay on Clent itself?

    Gareth
  • Blimey Gareth....Yes....if you need a guide let me know and we sort out a ride

  • Hi Sarah,

I noticed the opening line of your reply contained the word "Blimey" uh oh. Sorry if my posts are coming across as though I'm "going on abit" :? I'm just trying to ideally find some people that can share their knowledge of local trails with me which i may not of tried already. If i can get a few riding buddies in the process that would be a bonus as the attempts to get the wife out with me have failed drastically :D

I would very much like to take you up on the offer of your guided ride. Unfortunately I'm not available till after the weekend.

    Thanks for your reply, Gareth

Tell her their are lots of girlies in the Wyre Forest Group it might encourage her

Let me know when you available....i can get out most days between 10 - 2 although Fridays are a bit dodgey....the weekends tend to be a bit more booked up but if i can't show you i'm sure I'll be able to find somebody that can

I think the current weather could be putting people off, not long back from a ride in the Wyre, its a bit of mud fest....

Hi Stantz, keep an eye on the forum and just turn up. I'm usually around on a Weds and/or Thurs evening for a night ride in the Wyre.

If you are free Weds this week, see above post.

A few of us have been talking about making the Weds night ride regular again, hopefully with spring and lighter nights around the corner! :-)

    Cheers,
