  • SUNDAY RIDE MEETING AT THE DUKE @ 10.30

    Everyone welcome

    See you there

  • See you there tomorrow Sarah and co.. I'll be the noobie with the ginger hair and the GT Agresso..

    Can't wait :)
  • I am a mountain biking god.
    Unfortunately, my bike's an atheist.
  • Really enjoyed meeting you guys (and girls) today.. Cheers for makin my first proper MTB experience a good one.. I'm just happy I didn't fall off.... I came close a few times lol.

Look forward to the next meet, where hopefully i'll have some more suitable tyres and fixed gears :S lol
  • Glad you enjoyed it - gets better when things dry out a bit in the Spring!
  • Yeah I can't wait for things to dry out abit will be alot more quicker getting through some of those sections... Still getting muddy is a good laugh :P Just a little bit precarious when you feel you have 0% control over where the bike is gonna go..

On a sad note I'm disappointed to say I've have my "commuter" bike stolen today :( locked up outside the college in kiddy someone has managed to rob my white Saracen Excess (dirt jumper/dual slamon type bike I used when I was a teenager).. Doesn't bother me to much cos it's not worth any sort of value really, but wanted to strip some of the bits off it like the Snafu saddle which was the most comfortable saddle ive ever owned and some of the Tioga bits and bobs that were on it.. I'm gutted

Not sure if anyones seen this vid from the wyre forest before, made me chuckle anyways.. this is the sort of thing that would happen to me if I tried riding alone there lol... aptly named "Bike Club - Wyre Forest - 2nd Jan 2011 - Quest for the Holy Trail.mpg"
  • cheers mick.. I would have joined you fellas but would blatantly end up arse over tit in the dark.. felt precarious on the last afternoon ride with the rest of the bikeradar kru.. when ive ridden the forest a couple of more times id love to join you for a night ride,,,, dont fancy breaking my neck at the moment tho :P hope u lot had fun :D
  • Just noticed this, i see a few people riding about when i go for a walk with little ones or go attack the fire trails with the kiddie trailer and HT and wondered how i could get 'in' with these groups.

i`ve done a few jaunts in the wyre forest from the visitor centre and button oak way with work mates who know their way around; but as i dont know my way around myself i dont tend to venture out there too often for fear of getting lost or not finding some of the better trails. I have occasioinally done ribbesford but again i am a loner and lose interest, also i`m liable to hurt myself on some fo the larger stuff with me not riding a DH bike.

I did mountain mayhem (x10) last year but was woefully unprepared in fitness, this year i want to put in a more respectable time (Less than 1hr 5 mins this time!) so if i could get in with a group on a regular basis it would be great, especially as i`m in stourport.

Can i join the fun? i`ll be woefully unfit from the winter and i might not make every week due to family commitments.
  • Fill your boots Alex

Either come along on a sunday ride...there one this week leaving at 10.30 from the duke pub opposite vistor center

or just pop up a post when you can ride and if someone can they will

  • I`ll see if i can make this sunday, two broken toes and i was faffing with s different rear shock last weekend so i might be doubtful.

If i can assure myself the bike is ready to go (not used since July) and the toes feel ok i`ll come out for a play- if not i`ll make the following week (assuming you dont venture off to wales etc)

Would be nice to meet up with some like minded locals.
  • I don't know how I lost you all today.
I carried on down off road to the bottom car park at Button Oak.
I rode back up the road to say good bye to Tony & Amanda at the top car park and could see you all on my right still heading for the bottom car park, so I thought you'd see me.
I waited at the top car park, nobody turned up, so I went back down to the bottom car park.
Nobody there either, so I just carried on and did my own thing and ended up crashing in Bewdley.
I rode down those steps that we pushed up last time.
I went through Bewdley and turned left in to Northwood Lane, intending to ride up to Arley and back over the footbridge to the forest.
It's a bit of a sharp left hander, the road was wet and there was still mud on my tyres. I went sideways, speedway style, and straight down.
I bumped my knee, so i gave up on the long ride idea and went straight home along the river bank.
I am a mountain biking god.
    Unfortunately, my bike's an atheist.
  • What a blava....I got to the road where i thought we were meeting and you weren't there....then i saw the others heading in the other direction so i looped around and joined them....we got down to the end of a long muddy section and then Tony did say he had seen you heading up the road...but instead of doubling back...Steve said he knew a better way...so we followed him but got lost....after eventually going through someone garden (who had some very nice dirt jumps there) we ended up at the bottom carpark!!

but by the time we got to the top carpark you where long gone....Sorry!!

    Hope you ok??

I was roaming the forest yesterday looking out for you guys......there were a lot of riders in the Wyre yesterday....after finally sorting out my leaky front brake...

    :-)
  • Blimey Graham hope your OK :(

Loosing the group I dunno wouldn't have happened if Sarah P was in charge
  • I really enjoyed yesterdays ride, my dad had a really good time aswell... made me giggle watchin him go over the handlebars anyways.. I'm sure I won't be laughing when I pull a similar stunt in the future lol.

    For those that use Dry Mill Lane car park, it will be closed from;

1st February - 11th February for maintenance and extension work.
  • Any plans for a run this sunday? I think i`ll be out at some point, first time clipped in and preparing for some comedy low speed falling off. (already happened in the garage when i accidently clipped in my left shoe, which was set at full spring tension..ouch)

If anyone sees a lost, unfit guy on a White/Grey mongoose full sus, blue hat and black gear, say hello and point me in the right direction will you!

any maps for where the trails are in the WF? or is it just in people's heads?

    Alex
  • Sorry Alex...I think most of us are going on a ride to the Clee Hill organised by the bridgenorth club your very welcome to join us if you want

  • Hi,
I would be interested if there's a starter group. I've mainly hit the tow paths so used to the long miles but any serious uphill will kill at first.

Also only registered here today so any help finding other bike rides please help
  • Hi weathertop....there are a few people that have message me ...saying exactly the same as you.

So what i propose to do is try and sort out a day....when you can all get together and we can have an ample around the forest....would you be interested?
