Don't worry we dropped about 2/3s of the Intro Ride  Don't know how we managed that :?

I was the one who got a puncture. Seemed rather fast for an intro ride though, especially near the end, I guess we dropped the slower people at that junction so it didn't really matter in the end :?0 -
Yeah there was a definite change of pace towards the end. Which was good for me cause i was getting a bit cold. I feel nicely tired now though. Ive not done more than 50 miles in one ride since July. This is just the nudge i needed.0

Looks like you need some better tyresbluecow wrote:Yeah there was a definite change of pace towards the end. Which was good for me cause i was getting a bit cold. I feel nicely tired now though. Ive not done more than 50 miles in one ride since July. This is just the nudge i needed.
Everyone vanished into nothingness by the looks of it, confused how they got lost
Did you cycle to the gatway? As I cycled to and from the gateway, both of which is 6.75 miles there and back and I only got 50miles altogether :?:
Either way it was a good ride and I think if I keep doing them it 'may' get my sleeping pattern correct so I'm not like a student bum getting up at 2PM.0 -
Yeah i cycled 14 miles there from Bury and got a lift back to Prestwich so only had to cycle back to Bury from there. so i added an extra 20 or so miles. My speedo clocked just over 60 miles, so its either a bit squiffy or the actual ride was longer than 36 miles.0

How long did it take from bury to the gateway? Must have been hard into a headwind :shock:0 -
It took about an hour. Wasn't too bad actually. After whitefield its all pretty much downhill or flat.0
-
thats the only pain about the gateway, it's 8.5 miles from me but I guess to get to the peaks you have to go past it anyway. Plus its 17miles extra training!0

8.5 miles through town? Don't you find the traffic lights a killer?
So if you are going on a club run at say 9AM what time would you set off to make sure you get there on time?0 -
I'm glad you were all able to get out and about today. -10C here and light snow this morning, so ended up doing 62 hamster miles on the turbo. Character building, I think they call it...0

I'm going on my club ride tomorrow. Haven't been for a while so should be interesting since these guys have been getting the miles in at speed.Paul0

Good easy paced ride. Discovered the joy of Swiss Hill. It's now my favourite climb. Awesome technical fun. Bit slippy though as it was wet, MTBing technique works wonders as remaining seated is a must, you have to be really smooth with the power or you lose your back wheel.

Weighed in this morning at 16st6, a gain of two pounds. Not too worried as I think I did everything right this week and there is no increase in my waist measurement: the dieting should show up eventually! If there's no sign of movement next week, I may have to think about cutting down on my baseline calories (the amount I take in before accounting for exercise). Unfortunately, as you get lighter, you need even less food to stay there.
As for exercise...
Mon: rest day; Tue: 2hrs of weights and fast walking in the gym in the early morning followed by a 1hr15mins walk home in the evening; Wed: 2hrs on the turbo (base miles with some pedalling drills); Thu. another 2hrs of weights and fast walking at the gym in the early morning, followed by 1hr10mins on the turbo in the evening (base miles and resistance intervals); Fri: rest day; Sat: 4hrs on the turbo (base miles, pedalling drills, resistance intervals); Sun: 45 mins on the turbo (recovery ride)
Next week is a recovery week for me, so a much lighter load (and a vomit inducing field test ) before starting on my next training block0 -
This is last weeks thread. Patience people... sheesh0
-
Napoleon D, this is all very commendable, but i have no clue what you're on about. :shock:0
-
Bluecow, it's just facts and figures, they don't mean anything but seeing all that information makes you feel like you've done more0

??
I only had a merino top and that Gore jacket, and then tights with the waterproof pants. They werent warm, just windproof.
I really regretted wearing the pants, just cause they were uncomfortable. I'll get my legs out next time
I dont know how that guy managed in shorts.0 -
And it was subzero with the windchill0
-
-
Yeah theyre def not as warm as they are baggy! Thats why they were so uncomfortable. And they are too big to pack away in the my back pocket. Doh.
I dont remember if that guy finished with us or he was one of the lost souls...0 -
Lost just under a kilo, I think most of it was water loss from the intro ride. I drank 1.5 litres on the ride then spent the rest of saturday drinking water maybe the crash put some holes in my skin and i'm leaking.0
