Hello all, I hope you all had a good week.
It seems like the ice is finally starting to bugger off and leaving us with the soggy yet commutable joy that is rain.
This past week has been a bit frustrating, and not getting my usual miles in has had a rather negative effect on my motivation. But will hopefully be able to start afresh tomorrow. Actually, i dont usually work Monday's but i may pop into work. Just to get some miles in. How sad.
Here is a list of people who posted last week. There are more to account for than id anticipated, but i like that a lot of you have piled in! If i miss anybody off the list or have mis-typed your starting weights, please let me know.

Start weight = 9st13-
Current weight = 10st
Monday-Wednesday= Big fat nothing
Thursday = 30 miles
Friday-Sunday = Nothing.
This has been my worst week in a long long time. And i ate like a demon on Tuesday. Sheer boredom, no other reason.
Baahhhh...
STG: Lose a stone by staying off the crap food at work, drink more water.
LTG: complete the 66mile Cheshire Cat in under 4 hours.
Goals for coming week: Commute 4 days to work (120 miles) Do club run on Sunday (mileage as of yet unconfirmed)
Stomach crunches. Lots of.
Thank you Hx0 -
***ON BEHALF OF KEVIN STEPHENS***
Wed club turbo session, a hour yoyo 75% - 85% MHR and some sprints - felt dead
Fri club turbo session 75 min, 75%, 80% and 85% MHR then sprint intervals - felt good
Weight - no change (10st8)0 -
A bit late but for what it's worth this is some background. I sadly put on nearly 1 1/2 stone between end of October and beginning of January, mostly due to eating too much at work and not commuting as much.
By Boxing day I topped 16 stone but the start of some portion control got me back down to 15st 10lbs by the 5th Jan when I started back at work. Now at work we have a relatively new woman working who has a dietician's background so she has been badgering me about my diet.
I am pleased to report that I have dropped to 15st 4lbs after a week of reduced fat/calorie intake and smaller portions. Alas I have yet to commute due to the cold weather although I managed a 60 mile ride today (2nd ride in 6 weeks) even if it was painfully slow by previous standards!
My target is to get back to around 14st 4lb by the end of Feb.Still breathing.....0 -
Okay folks, here's my news...
I started at 15 st 10.0 lbs and I'm now at 15 st 8.5 lbs, a loss of 1.5 lbs.
You can see a more detailed statement in this weight loss progress report*** on my new weight loss/fitness blog.

Hey Guys
I weighed in at 102kg this afternoon which means i've lost 3kg. However this is solely the result of having flu.
Attempted an easy turbo session at the end of the week but gave up after about 30mins because I could only manage to turn a gear 3/4 teeth below what i can normaly do so I took it that I wasn't fully recovered. I've avoided any other training.
Feelin alot better now so only have a broken nose as an excuse not to get out on my bike now!

what happened with the wheelers ride then?0 -
Hey bluecow...maybe fairer to put down my weight at the start of the actual challenge.... 17st 3 was a few months ago now.
Started at 15 st 3 (*I think last week) Still 15 st 3.
I have done no exercise this week at all. I have had a bit of a tummy bug this week and green/brown snot dribbling down my face all week (tasty  ).
Starting to feel better now so have taken tomorrow off work (legit holiday...not sick day) and will put in 50-70 miles weather permitting.17 Stone down to 12.5 now raring to get back on the bike!0 -

Ahem, erm... Well, i had to get up at 6am (yes, 6 bloody am!) to take my son to ski training, and i didnt go to sleep til midnight so i was tired. But the main reason was that the weather wasnt looking too good,. Though nothing like the 35mph winds metcheck had predicted.
See, metchecks fault.
Now be quiet :P0 -

Thanks, ive updated it. Good job you fessed up, or your apparent 2 stone in one week weight loss claims might have put a dent in your credibility.0 -
Put on a couple of pounds last week I suspect, still off the bike with Bronchitis. I hope to be back on it on Saturday.0
-
Started 12st8lbs
Currently 12st6lbs
(weighing myself once per week every sunday morning)
been busy so have been stuck using the turbo trainer every weekday evening, 2x20's and a couple of 3x20's also managed a 3 hour road ride on sunday.0 -
yeh!! turned out ok ish after all
Starting weight 93kg
current weight 90.4kg
I did four rides last week and quite a lot of core work. I also did a cracking arm workout which made my muscles ache the day after (a feeling which I love). It's not going to make me cycle faster but I hope it'll be an improvement when I wear that still too small evening dress at the end of February.
I'm actually feeling really positive now - I AM GOING TO DO THIS!!!!0 -

Good for you
I just came back from a 40 mile ride. I felt like i was stuck in a rut after only getting out once last week. It was going swimmingly, noobdy tried to cut me up, people overtook nice and wide and slow, then 5 miles from home some fckng chavs in a sh*t Honda beeped. So i went mental and then took a long route back through Ashworth Valley to chill out. It nearly killed me. And i felt sick on the bike, which has not happened for a very long time. Great for hills that place though...0 -
Thanks Bluecow
It sounds like you've had a good day too. I've never heard of Ashworth Valley - I must look it up on the map.
Thanks for organising the thread; I think it's working really well. 8)0 -
Well I haven't rode seriously since November so riding a hilly 104km yersterday was tough and frustrating. Fighting the headwind on the way back didn't really help because there was little tailwind in the morning to even things up.
I was blaming weight gain but was very dissappointed to find that I've only gained a few pounds after a week's holiday in Cornwall (cream teas .... need I say any more). Performance wise very noticeable on the hills and recovery between slopes. Seems I have a few hard weeks ahead of me.
Current weight 16st 7lb.
Need to get back in shape for Flanders.Paul0 -
OK, info for the week 5th-11th January for me.
Weight, my pre Xmas weight was probably greatly inluenced by just getting over a dose of flu - my weight on 8/1/09 on hospital standard scales was 98kg. Can my start weight be adjusted to reflect my 2009 starting point?
Training last week:
5/1/09 Spin, 60 minutes, varied style including intervals out of saddle
7/1/09 One hour turbo, steady pace but some efforts to coincide with the stage finishes on the Tdf programme I've got on Sky+
10/1/09 Two hours spinning
Plans for this week:
Spin today, Wed, Fri, then a longish ride (4 hours or so) Sunday.0 -
Did 2 x45 minute turbo sessions and 2 x 60 minute sessions and no outside riding weight still the same. Have started to cut out the bread an chocolate and eat more protein so the theory is correct but how long will the go without chocolate last.0

Did the 50 miles today..... did it too soon..not well enough. there was a strong headwind for the last 20 odd miles... totally bonked after 40 miles and couldn't get above 12-15 mph.....totally knackered now.17 Stone down to 12.5 now raring to get back on the bike!0 -

Woo lost 2lb to celerbrate I had a xl Double bacon cheese burger, chips and full fat coke on the train home!!!
This week started badly, then finished with 2 x big gym sessions, 30 lengths of the pool and a spinning class which probably saved my bacon so to speak
Nothing today (unless you count a 12hr shift) spinning tomorrow am, then run with the boys at work lunchtime, and swimming tomorrow evening will probably off set the burger!!!!!
Oh and I have entered the London Triathlon.... yep definatly going mad... must be lack of chocolate!Never knowingly past a pie shop!

I'm envious - I havent altered my weight since avbout October, despite week 51 doing 7 hours, xmas week 10.5 hours, last week 8 hours and this week will be doing about 8 again. Its all hard effort stuff to: track night, chaingang on saturday, two turbo 2x20's equivalent....where am I going wrong, I can't eat THAT much food!!0
-
I've ridden exacltly 12 miles so far this year, I haven't been to the gym or done much of anything really but I've still managed to lose 10Ibs from my pre-christmas weight. I have moved house recently - who needs cycling?let all your saddles be comfy and all your rides less bumpy....0

who needs anything with a name like that0 -
Don't ask me why I chose Pork Sword as a username... although it has raised a few smiles its also been a bit negative with regards to people taking anything I post seriously!
However Popette, good luck with the weight-loss and fitness regimes - I've been following your progress with interest, both on the Forum and in Cycling Plus as, like you, I've been struggling with my weight lately and also found the Exmoor Beast more than just a bit hard. I plan to do it again this year and hope to complete it under 6 hours rather than 7 which will be made all the more easier if I reach my target weight of 70kgs (I was 96kgs during November - no wonder I found all those climbs a bit tough!) :shock:let all your saddles be comfy and all your rides less bumpy....0 -

I feel your pain. In June i did LEJOG, carrying two full panniers of stuff an average of 85 miles a day for two weeks.
I lost...... wait for it... a measly 4 pounds.
Arse. :evil:0 -

Awww bugger I was planning on coming back from John O groats at least half the man I used to be!!!!
