Start time likely to be 8:30, or 8:45 if Phips is coming (that's not a dig by the way!) at Richmond Gate, Richmond Park 8)

As long as I've been able to replace my derailleur hanger in time after this weekend's 'skating on ice' episode I'll be out, but I'll be racing on Saturday (as long as the weather is dry) as might Felgen, so I'm opting for Sunday :?

Would be great to have a few more new faces out so anyone who's been looking on with interest please do tag along, the more the merrier :D

Hopefully it won't be quite so icy this time!

Not a problem for me mate - I'd happily go at 10!

You and me both, mornings are not my speciality :D
I think it says it all that I live closest and am often last there!
  • Sunday is best for me as well - if I get time to fix the steed
Shall we compromise and say meet at 9am - that means I can wake up after sunrise :)
The long term forecast for Sunday says partly cloudy/fair with temperatures just above freezing - might fix the snow chains on the tyres.

Have you seen all the threads on the forum about riding in the ice. It seems we weren't the only ones who had fun this weekend... Can't say I'm too upset by bailing early.

This Sunday is looking less likely for me as it's my family staying with us so shouldn't really leave them :-/
It's the vibe of the thing.

I hope all respective bikes are fixed for the weekends entertainment. Mine took ages to fix, well actually ages to get the right part but it was worth the wait :D

Part found for me, just need to get around to being in front of a computer whilst:

    a) having my wallet with me
    b) not being drunk (hence wallet not being with me as I type right now!)
    c) not having the time on my hands to drift off to other websites like bespokecycling.com where I can order things like Parlee Z4s... :?

Mmmm, Parlee Z4... *drifts off into a credit card crippling dream state* :?

Never mind the Parlee, I'll take a pair of those Lightweights thank you very much 8)

Not sure if I can make this sunday as I have a big night saturday night, not sure even a 9am start can entice me.

Might however head out for a ride and watch the racing on Saturday depending on what I have on.

Actually, I was going to ask, what time are you guys racing on Saturday? I might come along to spectate and take a couple of pics.
Race is due to start at 12:30, and should be pretty much on time this week as there'll be less in the way of signing on hassle etc.

I'll probably still aim to get there for half 11 ish and will just mill about trying to keep warm until friendly faces show up! :D

Right, 'skating on ice' casualty part replaced so I'm good to ride this weekend! 8)

Unfortunately the weather is looking pretty crap for Saturday, particularly in the morning - 27mph winds will not be nice at Hillingdon!

So I may well bail on the race, but as Sunday is looking good I'm game on for that. Just need to be weary of ice again if Saturday is looking to be wet and Sunday morning is cold!

Just need to get my gears re-aligned and I can finally ride this week - it may only be a roller session tomorrow evening though...

I won't be making it out this weekend as have too much on :( but am "working" from home this week so will make sure I make it out for a quickfire 3 laps in RP tomorrow some time.

Hopefully the roads are clear enough for me to try for 60 minutes.

    Enjoy the weekend lads.

That's a fair point. Its going to be windy for everyone else too- it just means you need to be smart and stay in the slipstream to save energy. As for potential RPteam spectators i had better put on a better show. Either way as long as its not frozen i am keen to race as it was great fun and all over too quickly.

Wilf i am free tomorrow so will join you for laps. Might well be there today too..

(Hope that quote above worked this time)

I'm currently "holidaying" so was thinking about a quick fire couple of laps on Friday as well, before the festive weekend begins. Let me know when you plan on going if you fancy a pace setter for your record attempt..

    Cool - will do.

I think one thing thats preventing me from getting under the elusive hour is every now and then I get brain fade and switch off, more so when a power balad comes on my Ipod

Rich, one thing I've learnt (purely from tv observations) is that the key isn't so much protection from the wind on a crit circuit, but to stay out of trouble by being at the front if its wet. As they say in horse racing, one out one back is perfect. Easier said than done ofcourse.

PS - Mike love your aussie test pattern and motto.

yes little one is here. He has been around for just over 24 hours now. I Have built up considerable cycling credits by nappy changing in hospital and ferrying around parents and in laws which i am keen to cash in before expiry. Am in hospital now posting on mobile phone. Little one is cute - may change avatar to a pic of him.

Yes keen to race sat in fact almost definite to go unless it is abysmal weather. It is Totally addictive and would be good to see more me you out giving it a go :-)

I plan to start racing again next year (been about 10 years since I turned the wheels in anger), but will probably join Twickenham so means I might wind up racing against you if you're with KW. Bahaaaa :?

Racing in the wind and rain is a great way to improve bike handling skills.

Nothing's ever definite in my life! I've not decided yet, just not keen on the forecast...

Still, could prove interesting I guess, and yes it certainly would be a learning experience!

That was my understanding, yes - looking forward to it 8)

Congrat's James, glad to hear all is well - keep working on those bike credits mate, can't have you losing sight of that Box Hill PB! As for RP3, you should be targeting sub-55min times now! 8)

Oh, and it'll be my last 'RPCC' ride of the year as I'm back to Worthing for most of the Christmas break on Fri 19th - the Cervelo will be coming with me though, and I'm planning to ride with the mighty Worthing Excelsior whilst I'm home!

I may well venture back to London a couple of times over the holiday though - I have a long break so I can see myself riding back to London, kipping at the flat and riding back again the next day at least once! :D

Thanks for all the congrats chaps! Benjamin (sorry, no cycling-related names I am afraid!) is home now - still sleeping and is just being so well behaved. There has been no expiry of cycling credits yet and still time to accrue more!

I am pretty certain to be at the Hillgdon race on Saturday - this time I am keen to do a little more work towards the front this time, as last time I sat back too much and could have been collected in some of the crashes that happened.

Anyway bro in law - as I mentioned he managed to secure a basic bike to use while he is here. He has now gone to Spain for a week. He thinks it is highly likely that he will come back with an Orbea - thank god I have got him to look further afield than the usual brands (he drools over the Epic cycles website!)- he aspires to be like RIch - a proper bike tart but it seems in Australia Bianchi is the Holy Grail. Anyway allegedly he has been out for a ride today while I was in Hospital, and managed to find RP and managed a 16 minute lap but only had time for one lap before coming home. Apparently he was a little bit intimidated by the traffic, but enjoyed the relative calm of the park. This should be interesting.

Myk-ee if I see you in a race, that would be awesome! In the UK you can have first and second claim clubs, so all we need to join Bombay Bicycle Club once it gets up and going! :D

He's an aussie so no doubt he has good taste. 8)

Not too sure about that, I think for sheer bike tart price tag bling Pinarello hold that mantle back home, but sadly the big 4 US bike manufacturers have the market cornered in Australia even in the top end.

One of the reasons why I got my Wilier - almost unseen in Australia.

16 minutes  sure the traffic wasn't intimidated by him!

I'll be in the park @ 12:30 if you want to meet up.
