Isn't the term 'vodka martini' tautological?

Isn't a martini made of vodka and vermouth?

A classic martini is gin and vermouth; more accurately, gin passed over ice that's been lightly touched by vermouth.

Three sips and it's gone before it has the chance to warm up and batterdom beckons like the gamine come on eyes of a nineteen year old girl.

Aye, well, there is that. A solution to the three sips conundrum is to make 'em big.

I'm quite sophisticated, mind, so I glide around the penumbra of batterdom.

I've only just noticed the phist in sophisticated. Odd that.

Time for another one. Martini, that is.

Out 'ere in the country, I 'ad a good porrrrtion of our fresh garden peas with one of Farmer John's fresh freerange 'happy' chickens roasted with his freshly dug tatties!
A nice knob (!) of his butter too but ruined on 'orrible sliced Co-Op bread! It was 'orrible it were, stiff and tasteless like caaaaaarrrdboard!! No smug slogan in a posh Edinburgh acc'nt is gonna make me buy that ***p again!

Then popped down village pub for a yaaaaaaard of ale and nice banter with saucy barmaid.

With plenty of 'ooo' 'n 'aaaah',

    KK.
