Perhaps you should seek medical advice about that.

I'm on for the Christmas stuff. But are we going to come in civvies or kit?
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

Yes or somewhere in the locality.

Where exactly is the legendary Morpeth Arms anyway?

+1 I would like to know too. So I can scout it out whilst visiting the GF this weekend.

I think civvies would be best after all to drink and ride would be irresponsible em! cough cough.

The Morpeth Arms would be a good meeting place then on to somewhere local.

    Somewhere local sounds good.

    How about Southampton

Only joking. If I can make the date you decide I may well make the effort Londonward.

Even though I am slightly frightened of you all.......

I'm glad you suggested this as the wife mentioned that her forum board are doing a secret santa and I was going to toss that idea in the air!

    Just imagine the fun of

:P Silly Commuter Racing Secret Santa :P

I'd suggest a budget of £10 and a lucky dip approach?

Anyhow as you might have already guessed I'm defo up for drinks and food if possible!

My running site is doing a secret santa. I'm discreetly not taking part this year, as last year I received a box of really cheap and nasty make up.

Is there somewhere to lock the bikes up at the Morpeth Arms?

Who will rescue L-i-T, or any other female BR member, from Don-Don if he corners them in the pub?
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Now now this is not the roadie thread I have no doubt don_don is a perfect gentleman as all the men in the "commuting" thread are and is more than welcome to join the team for food+many+many drinks, but I do warn you all don't bring your bike this time, as we do tend to share the old shandy or 5 normally and I'm guessing Christmas could get a little messy :D

By the way ACE call on the secret Santa - strict rules should apply, under £10 must be bike related although at one company I worked for one person got pencil top Jesus and another eye masks with "fek off in sleeping" - brilliant, I wont tell you what I got 8)

If might add what kind of idiot man would try and buy a non-related woman (ie. not the wife, mother or daughter) a meaningful present, amateur! you are treading on dangerous ground.

In regards to the SCRSS (another bl00dy acronym!) I was going to suggest that the pressie would have to be cycling related.....wouldn't be much point otherwise!

As for locking up bikes if anyone is planning n riding there are plenty of railings and lamp-posts in the vicinity. We have had several bikes all chained up there before, although G66 did put his one across the road so it didn't see all the ugly bikes

So start @ Morpeth then round to Millbank Spice again or does anyone have another suggestion?

Just a suggestion, if we are planning on drinks and food would it be advisable to book a table somewhere? I know this is dependant on us agreeing a date and rough numbers!

Failling that we could all end up walking/cycling around trying to find somewhere to feed ourselves!

Don't be so harsh, I was bikeless for the first 2 meetups and he spoke to me just fine :-)

    AHEM!! Concentrate LITTs fss.

AAAAaaaaanyway, I think we should all be in lycra regardless of whether you bring your bike or not. Apparently there has been talk of an upstairs room at the Morpeth or we can try and get them to book us a couple of tables depending on numbers.

Going on previous experience from other forums these sorts of arrangements are pretty academic unless someone just names a date and its tough if people can’t make it. Otherwise you get 18 pages of people saying ‘yes I can make it then but only for five minutes’…’no, I am having my breast augmentation that day’ etc.

    ITBoffin – name a date!

Well looking at my possible work locales for the next 2 months pretty much any Friday in November should be good, along with the first one in December (which I think has already been ruled out......) The 2 after that and I suspect I'll be way down in Thames Ditton for one (although the ride to Morpeth could be fun!) and the following one is mine and the 2nd eldest bday (we share!)

Right, taking the bull by the horns...

Friday 28th November at the Morpeth Arms from 6pm, then onto Millbank Spice for about 8. Bring a £10 cycling related Secret Santa gift with you.

As for numbers let's finalise that week?

I was going to write a very similar post myself for that same date. But do we really have to do the secret santa bit?

And I will be getting the tube, not biking there. I am a wuss

I could do that date although am not sure how well the Secret Santa thing would work...

Will decide closer the time about bike/tube. Probably bike.

    28th suits me just fine.

Not being a grinch or anything but I'm really not a fan of secret santa! I will come by bike of course and I'll do my best to converse with any bikeless folk, but know that I will be judging you on your inability to MTFU...

... of course I live 5 mins from the pub so it's easy for me to talk! :D
