hehe, considering the amount of money I've spent on Spesh gear in the past 18 years, I think some free product wouldn't go amiss :-D

Mrs. G73's birthday present to me is replacement brake and gear cables for my old skool Zaskar- Transfil Nox stainless steel ones with carbon outers and sealed inner runs - and a collection of other miscellaneous brake and transmission parts and tools to fix up the ol' girl.

And, seeing as it's summer and I'm doing a wee sportive on Saturday, I bought me an Altura Pocket Rocket lightweight waterproof jacket.

Happy Birthday to me (for Thursday :))
Today is a good day to ride

Following the recent interaction between my head and the floor I decided (ok, was coerced) to buy a helmet. Got the Giro Monza helmet in black: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Giro_Monza_Helmet/5360032021/. Having never worn a helmet before I have to say it was actually very comfortable and I barely noticed it was on when I was riding.

Also picked up a pair of '09 Specialised Gel Mitts to replace an '08 pair I shredded.

Liking the fact that all the padding is now gel but not convinced about the new synthetic leather palm instead of some polyester weave on the old pair. Only got them at lunch time so I haven't worn them whilst riding yet. I'll have to give them a few rides before casting my final judgement.

Club bib shorts are Nalini. Very comfortable and have worn well.

I have some of the 6 panel bibs from PBK. They are actually pretty good for the money, but they don't compare so well to my Santini shorts. I only have DHB 3/4's and the quality of the lycra and pad seems to be higher than Nalini.

Overall I find Nalini to be good value for dosh.

Can anyone recommend a cheap SSFG specific crankset the MTB set on my SS bow too much cause well MTB style riding instead of smooth efficient roadie style n ting.

No really I need a couple of sets if possible that don't cost silly money, this bike is not worth it.

    Specialized Windie Sport saddle
    Bontrager white bottle cage

    Shimano Freewheel 16T sprocket
    Aldi bike computer

Hope that's it for awhile, my wallet needs a rest.

I was going to get my fancy red jockey wheels - how much of a difference does them having ceramic bearings actually make? - mainly cos I was pushing the jockey wheels on the derailluer and they didn't spin freely. Is that normal too?

I'd been holding off on the purchases until the new bike turned up, which it finally did on Saturday. Coincidently, their was a Cycle Promotions event locally today. Still don't know if that was a good or a bad thing :)
    Came away with....

    Lusso CoolMax Pro-X bib shorts
    Lusso Coolite jersey
Altura base layer (only 1 left in my size)
Chain whip, casette tool, simple bottle cage, PFairy repair kit, 3 inner tubes, some lube and

a Lampre cycle cap to match the bike :)

Just been out in the clothes. Previously it's been lycra under baggies. Felt a bit..funny..at first just having the shorts on, but even with the brand new saddle it was just lovely. To those of you here you have recommended bibs all this time, thank you. I wouldn't have bought them otherwise.

NO NO NO you want GOLD ceramic and the difference is amazing just spinning the bearings in the race you can tell home much smoother they are plus ceramic look cool which is v important hence the GOLD, bling bling.

Yes the derailleur should spin smoothly and quietly.
