Dammit - really can't afford this atm but after my Pro Race 3 annoyance, and the discovery that my commuting tyres are looking a bit ropey, and the fact that i mistakenly bought 60mm valve tubes rather than the 80mm that I need, I've had to splash nearly £100 on this:

Continental Race Light Inner Tubes x 2

Vittoria, Rubino Pro Folding Tyre x2

Finish Line, Fibre Grip Carbon Fibre Assembly Gel

Continental, GP Attack Force Black Chili Compound (700x22/24) Twin Pack Folding Tyre

Grrrr. It's a never ending list and I was intending to buy a pair of Assos F1.13 S5 Bibshorts rather than tyres and tubes!

Whats your Pro Race 3 annoyance? They are bloody good in my experience.

1 Joblow Sport Track Pump and some Rock'n'Roll chain lube.

The pump feels quality but the lube appears to be blue water with no lubrication affect, hmmm.

Punctured after less than 100 miles - not impressed with that at all. I've always been a Conti man but though I'd give the 3's a go... will probably move back to the Attack/Force combo after these.

Thats unlucky. The worst I've had with them is a pinch flat.

Well after this mornings rage I have cancelled my order for a new set of Attack Force. I shall superglue the gash tonight and carry on with the Pro Race 3's. I had hoped for better than 100 miles in all honesty but nevermind.

Spent the money on some wine for my Dad instead!

    Just bought from Dave Hinde

1 x RS10 Wheelset including tyres and tubes
    1 x 105 Cassetter 12-27

Which the lovely man said they would bolt on for me. That means my Kiron can now play outside instead of being stuck on the turbo trainer.

    Wee hee.

Only a £10 difference for the pack I went for (speed/cadence, heart rate, and European mapping), could have saved myself a tenner I suppose, but I won't lose too much sleep over it!

Finally got tired of replacing chain after rough downshifting. Does not happen often but for an additional £6 on top of all the other cash spent you might as well!

(Yes my limit screws are adjusted correctly but you get the occasional jump when downshifting - even hapens on pro maintained bikes)

cheap new stuff to further embarrass ratty old frame:
New Truvativ crankset 36-50 £28 CRC
New Shimano BB £40 fitted buckingham Bikes
New Shimano M424 pedals as old lyotard platforms had welded themselves to the old cranks (£25 Ribble)

FFS I'm going to run out of bits to buy for ratty bike soon (has new wheels, rear mech, brakes, chainset/BB, pedals...) so will have to make decision on frame respray.

And maybe ride it a bit more  .

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Veni vidi vomiti - excellent

Jash you mentioned getting some Assos F1.13 S5s. Have you tried them on? I've got some Assos F1.Mille S5s and the pad is quite a lot bigger (and more waffly) than the castellis. Not bad, mind you, but different...

Way over budget at the mo Jon! I'm increasingly thinking that I should go like for like and get another pair of Frees. Cheaper and bloody comfy to boot, that or get last years Assos, the new ones are almost £200

 Blimey. Hadn't looked at price either. Got mine last summer in a parkers sale...phew. Still prefer the freebibs, though

Well, I didn't just buy them because I wanted to use them for a while first before making a judgement.

The last thing I bought for my commuting enjoyment is the Assos Airprotec LL F1 bib tights:

    assos-airprotec-ll-med.jpg

it kinda broke the bank but I figured riding through winter is better overall as I'm not using the car, so eventually they pay for themselves. A guy at work really loves his Winter LL ones (the really cold-weather ones) and says they've lasted ages without much wear.

What do I think? Well, I absolutely love them and am not looking forward to it warming up so I have to go back to my Cannondale Le Carbon shorts - they just don't protect my bum nearly as well as these. Usually within days, I get a numb bum with the Cannondales but with these I can ride all week and not even a slight amount of pain.

They're lovely and warm but not hot, or even slightly sweaty - 'just right'

I think they're worth the cash, overall. One happy customer :-)

The other thing I got was a 2XU compression base layer:

    2xu-MA1120a-zoom.jpg

It's really comfy and warm, and just refuses to smell! Doesn't stay clean for long as I got a white one. The only real down-side is that it has to be washed at 20 degrees or less, so it's difficult to fit it in with a light-load of other stuff, so I sometimes just hand-wash it. Luckily, it doesn't need doing too often, as I said above - it really doesn't smell. Not sure why not??

Jash - whatever it is you do in your day job, you are wasted there: you should buy bike stuff for other people. :) The ElevenGear stuff is cool, but I couldn't pull it off. :P

@Snellgrove - are you Jash in disguise? :) Nice buys. I use a Linebreak compression top sometimes and it's great.

You need to go to the Race or Training section of the forum. Slobs only here, I'm afraid.
