2hrs 40mins is a very fast time, about a 15mph average  I've completed that loop in 3hrs 2min before and I thought that was fast.

  • Hi - just found this thread - seems there's a few of you Lincolnshire riders out there!

I'm a fellow Lincoln dweller stuck in this county (surely the worst for MTBing?)

Anyway - did a club or regular organised ride ever get sorted?

If one was set-up - maybe affiliated to a roadie club, just wondering who'd be interested in joining? Thinking of it as a forum for arranging regular rides in Lincolnshire/Peaks/Dalby/Sherwood Pines etc and maybe arranging teams for endurance events (SITS, 24/12) or even XC racing if thats your bag?

Just a thought - or will I be forced to join the club at Sherwood Pines?
It hurts when you land on yer thumb

  • Deal me in!!! I am in sleaford and I normally ride at sherwood pines, the peaks, or over in Wales. Anyone going to the wolds in the next couple of weeks? If so, giz a shout as I could do with a change of scenary and quite fancy a shot on them.

I would be interested too. Will be out (as usual) Sunday morning with a few mates - often get 4 or 5 of us out at once, injuries and other commitments depending!

In terms of a club, I have (just) set up a Louth MTB website - http://www.louthnet.com/LAMB/

Initially it is just a quick site to arrange rides and swap info etc. If there is sufficient interest I might turn it into an official club, and the ideal would be to get enough riders and interest to create a halfway decent XC loop - but would need some land and plenty of volunteers!

There is also the Rasen Trailblazers near Market Rasen - much more downhill based, but their smaller jumps are good (the bigger stuff probably is too,but it is way too much for me - the wall rides are bigger than the one at Glentress, and there are two of them!)

  • Was anybody out night riding sometime last week?

Was driving down Bradley bends, near the woods when i saw 3 bikers coming past me with the night riding lights on (bright as fook). looked like they had just done some night riding?

I'm getting my light from Dealextreme anytime and i'm keen to get out and get some night riding done
  • Anyone out this sunday? I'm due out the following weekend with some retrobikers all being well! Fancy a blast sunday though! Anytakers. I'm Bailgate end of town and dont know of any decent loops!

  • I do a 27 mile or so round the city loop which takes about 2 hours. Some off road bridleway BW/footpath!. if you look on the map its fairly easy to guess the off road bits. Cherry, Fiskerton, five mile bridge, Branston, BW bracebridge A15, FP to A607, FP on cliff top, BW down the cliff, brant road. cycleway to brayford pool, BW pyewipe, BW Burton, Burton Hill, BW Coach road to A15.Riseholme. FP out nr Police HQ. Nettleham, BW side of Police HQ. BW nr school-back of playing fields. A158. Reepham. Cherry. (cos i live in Cherry). Despite what it looks like I dont normally do footpaths but the cliff top one has great views and rarely has anyone on it. Have a search round for the play area (hills and vallleys) where the coach road meets the A15 and enjoy in the DRY! The route is good all year. Just a bit sketchy on the way down the cliff.

not tired it at night but it would be fine i think.

If you want something close to proper mountian biking then visit the quarry at Greetwell. can be accessed from sereral places. the easist to describe is the bottom of greetwell hollow on the Lincoln to Cherry road. sort of unofficial but lots of trials bikes use it too. you can see the tracks on Google earth.

i often ride on my own but would be pleased of company if anyone wants to get in touch.
