ideal.....i work shifts also...i`m off tues/wed&sat/sun... next week then a week of the dreaded.....i live at Holton-le-clay i set off from there or bang bike on roof and start Granby/Beesby area less chance of getting splattered by car drivers that think there car is the size of the road including Verge

i often ride the bycyclemania route...i think its rothwell wer there is a nice steep hill which is loads of funn :P...also its alot better when its dry, quicker and easier...

Any of you guys doing the bicyclemania challenge 4 this year from Walesby??....Also if youve ridden it before....Any good?

I'll be doing it, looking forward to it!! there will be a group of three or four of us doing it (2 kona kula's, boardman pro and cube reaction)

How did you all get on on Bicyclemania today? I don't think I beat my last years time of 4HR 10 MINS, but it will be close. Still got massive cramps around heartbreak hill in my thighs, so wound up walking a fair bit of the end hills, even though I had energy enough to climb them.

Excellent weather, and Cheify's organisation was spot on as ever. I even won a prize of a pair of sunglasses.

Won't be back for sept as I am in Scotland (Inners/ Glentress/ Kirroughtree). Nice as Walesby is, there is no real comparison...!

I did the Bicyclemania challenge last saturday!, Spanking weather and lots of hills..maybe 2 too many..namely the 2nd time out of rothwell and Nettleton Top!!...still enjoyed it although a couple of the signs either side of Ravendale had me a bit perplexed for a short while and ended up going the wrong way on 1 of them costing me about 10 mins. As i seemed to be riding alone for about half the ride,the gates were doing my head in a bit which costs you loads of time and disrupts your flow a bit.

Posted a 4h 26 mins which for a first time round,was just ok..could do better!!!

I also recieved a pair of sunnies...which was nice!!

i seem to have developed a stutter and dont forget the one in August the other way round so thats down the Nettelton hill... but up that rough track...not as steep thou

Yeah the climb out of Rothwell is avoidable as well - if you carry straight on up the bridleway from Swallow (where it goes four ways, and the BM route turned left), you come out opposite the next bit of bridleway and avoid the road entirely. In fact I am sure that was the route last year - dunno why the change?

Not me- I was around Tetford though and passed 2 lots of riders - a group of 2 and a group of 4. The place is getting busier than Glentress!

(If it was anyone here, we were the group of 2 on a Spesh and a Boardman)

not very busy this morn....only saw 2 groups of roadies must of been a trail on...one lot coming out of Beelsby towrds Irby. Other coming from Croxby to beelsby then i swung it down Heartbreak Hill...they didnt follow to rough for there Rims...

Who's up for the Bicyclemania reverse challenge end of August then!!??....Chiefy, the organiser of the event,has put a question on the application form about organising a 12hr Enduro for sometime next year,wot do you all reckon??

Not too sure if I'll be able to make it yet, have to wait and see. 12hr enduro, reckon I'd have a bash at that, wonder what the course/route would be for that.

They would have to shorten the route to around 10 - 12 miles to make it worthwhile and more competetive as you rack up the laps. youd have to include Rothwell en route as there are some good twin tracks around their....Dont know many routes as ive only done the BM once and ridden the Wolds another couple of times!

I've ridden just about every track round there one way or another, reckon I could come up with a nice gentle 10 - 12 mile loop :twisted:

anywhere is near...those woods near Damons,,Bracebridge Heath,not challenging im sure but a man of your calibre should be able too put it together...

A few weeks ago I did the bicyclemania 5 route plus an extra 12 miles just for fun :twisted:

I didn't like it that much tbh, some mad fast road descents, almost touched 50mph from Nettleton Top, lucky it was quite early in the morning and there were no cars about :shock: very scary.

Cu there then..you should be able too break the record.2hrs 40mins....but that was the clockwise way...i must admit reverse does seem slightly easier,for some reason..hope the elements hold off...
