You can Tri-and-Run but you can't hide. In fact you got found out...
Heh heh, nothing like overtaking Tri's. Last time I was at my folks house I went out on one of my standard loops along the coast. Managed to land slap bang in the middle of a Triathlon and took scalps left and right, I was just sitting on the hoods doing 30mph or so (flat road, coastal tailwind). Poor idiots looked quite put out. Obvio I had a huge advantage with my fresh legs, but it was still might satisfying, I like to think they could hear the distinctive "whump whump" of my deep rims as I came up behind them...
They should have had fresh legs too, they shouldn't be using their legs in the swim.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

ONly a ride around the block so far - had to avoid fettling and bike stuff after the Marmotte to get the brownie points back up.
Pierced the front tube fitting the damn thing last weekend. Need to buy some talc.
Yep, planning on a ride on Sunday evening. Not six laps though. No chance.FCN 2-4.

Yeah, I noticed that, its lovely. They must have resurfaced that section pretty quickly one night because I AFAIK there weren't any daytime roadworks all week! Very efficient, I like.0 -

Yep, that was me! The chap on the Boardman was on your left through the tunnel - I was about 20 yards back because I'd got caught behind a white van before the tunnel.FCN 2-4.

In 14 miles I manage to only take one scalp thismorning despite a decent speed, sadly leaving the house at 5:45 meant there were no cyclists on the roads. I almost took some chap on a white spesh hybrid but he jumped the lights and had some utter weapon in Hanover Sq who could not do more to keep sticking himself on any part of the road I was moving into. in total I think I came across 3 heading my way.0

good fun on the boris bike yesterday, needed to sit quite far back to put the hammer down. Heavy bike but using the gearing nullifies that. I did nearly 6 miles on it and my bum was starting to ache a little after that
I dropped a lycra'd hybrid rider who was clipped in... I saw him got the measure of him then went past freewheeling just to add to the humilation....
Sadly he was the only bike I saw.
Taxi's certainly gave me a load of space and I think people seemed genuinely surprised I was filtering as well
good fun to ride but only really short distancesPurveyor of sonic doom

Yeah, definitely not a long-distance bike.
Rode the old commuter down to the tube, (my knees still v ouchy and was up late geeking) and it felt a lot more comfortable than the boris bike.0 -

scalped my first scooter this morning
I was sat alongside in the ASL on jamaica road heading towards tower bridge, he pulled away slightly quicker than me but I sized him up as riding a 50cc, so quickly shifted into the big ring and began to reel him in, briefly sat in his slipstream as i contemplated whether i could make this stick and if he was at full throttle.....suppose there's only 1 way to find out......
so i upped the effort and made the pass and it stuck and as i pulled clear i could hear the engine screaming behind me, but i like to think it was him crying into his helmet.
a quick glance down at the comp said 41kph, methinks he needs a 100cc!_______________________________________________

Nothing, nada, rein, diddly squit I'm no Lance Armstrong or anything but I'm not getting any challenges or even someone having a sniff. Maybe its my route or the time of day but despite a couple of fast looking bikes nothing came near. Boring.
Instead I had a run in with a coach - 3 lanes on OKR coming up to the roundabout with New Kent Road & I want to turn right at the roundabout - road splits Bus+1 lane to left, 2 lanes to right. Soo, I was on the left side of the middle lane, had also just overtaken a stationary bus and I'm shortly going to take that fork/filter to the right. Coach comes up behind me and toots, like why not be patient or move into outside lane, accelerate past me and pull again? Hmm...1997 Gary Fisher Big Sur

It's time you freed yourself from this pain and stepped into the light: Go west, young man, along Embankment, left over Battersea Bridge and then back east along the south bank. You should get much more action.FCN 2-4.

He speaks the truth. There are little pockets of action elsewhere, but the Big E is by far the most reliable source of some decent competition. I held out for Balham Dragstrip and Kennington Road for a while, but the Embankment is where it's at.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Does that mean I have to dump my girlfriend and go through the effort of finding one that lives West or South West? Or shall I lurk, vulture like on the slip road from Blackfriars Bridge and await prey that comes slowly up out of the underpass, spent and tired?1997 Gary Fisher Big Sur
