Told off some bloke who was drafting me today. I was in no-sweat-super-pootle mode, and slowed down several times, yet he still didn't overtake....
cue: 'do you want to come past me or something?'
him: 'no, just keeping the pace behind you'
me: 'it's really bad form to sit right on someone's wheel etc [explanation].'
To be fair, on the old commuter I used to think I was doing well if I could hang onto someone's wheel. Hopefully he's learned, although no apology was forthcoming.
Er don't mix those two it's yucky
N most likely that dude was checking you out, duh! :roll:
Oh good, so he definitely would have rear-ended me if I'd hit the brakes...

@dondare - Teehee.
I think Mr Twitchy Legs is stalking me - that's three times in 4 days this week. Pulled up at VB to find him waiting in a fairly large group. I thought, "Oh, here we go: another few minutes of desperately trying to hold a gradually stretching gap". So as we pull off, I decide to sit in behind (not too close of course), and we are quickly past the rest of the bunch. As we start to swing round to the right, I realise that he's not going as fast as I thought he would, and I seem to have a bit to spare. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I decide to have a go. I know from before that he'll up the pace if I come past slowly, so ease back slightly, then ramp up the revs as fast as I can.
I come past, still accelerating, and push on to try and get a bit of a gap, and to my surprise, it seems to work. And it keeps working down past the petrol station (all the time, hoping a red light doesn't stop play). As I pass the petrol station, I realise I'm going to blow if I keep this up, but he still hasn't come past, so drop a cog for the rougher tarmac after the lights, and up the cadence a bit to compensate. I daren't look back, but I can't here anyone behind me - can this be? Have I beaten him?
It's really starting to hurt over the slight undulations down towards the railway bridge, and I'm starting to want him to put me out of my misery, which he does about 100m before the lights before the railway bridge. It was always going to be a case of when he came past, rather than if, but I managed to hold him off longer than I thought I could. I pull onto CB doing my own twitchy leg thing and pootle down to QTR with a big grin.
One other thing: on the off ramp of CB, a scooter rider on the far side of the next lane spots a pretty lady in an LBD on the far pavement, and lets out an audible (across two lanes of traffic) groan of, err, appreciation is probably the nicest way to put it, and rides along for a hundred yards having a good lech. He would have been right on your wheel. He does that. But he's rapid all the same, so good work.
What's a "beard" in FCN terms? I don't have Brun's "Ooo-Arrr, Get Orf Meee Land" look, and am not sporting Mr T's "Old Father Time" look, either. But there's definite growth.FCN 2-4.

Thanks CJ. I had a feeling he would be right behind me. From what I've seen before, I can't imagine him letting me go.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)
