A police motorbike pulled right along side me into an ASL last year - couldn't believe it. He then had the hypocracy to chase down an RLJ-ing nodder.

Did see a cop pulling over speeding drivers on Chelsea Embankment today though, and there are often lorry safety checkpoints at the start of DSC going westbound which are manned by police, so it's not all one-way against us!

Yep, a westbound HGV flashed an eastbound HGV, who decided that it was ok to overtake me on the approach to the zebra crossing. Not the best idea.

+1. There's something going on. There was a police escort of some description around Parlt Sq.

I counted 17 of them today. They do it quite often. It really fecking incenses me; not least because I was the recipient of a TfL ticket in snowy Jan, issued by a remote camera operator, for stopping the car on a red route before 7. The route in question was deserted, due to the snow/ice.

Those gits line their vans up and vanish - it's not as if they're waiting or loading - on a double red outside the MoD (I think). Joe Public tries that and best outcome is a ticket; worst is an arrest and a controlled explosion.

Crossed the roundabout at Vauxhall bridge coming down Millbank and stopped at a pedestrian crossing to let someone cross, next to a Pimlico Plumbers van. After pulling away the gap infront of me narrowed to the point there was no space left so I banged on the side on the van.

The driver then caught me up and yelled that he was being overtaken so "where was i supposed to go!?" - i don't care - just don't run me over thanks!!

Dunno. Their website does mention a strike. Can't imagine they were enamoured by David Starkey's comments on QT last week...

Can't remember exactly, but mainly on the theme of enjoying the sound of his own voice. He seems to be under the illusion that good oratory skills make up for not having anything intelligent to say. His speeches always sound quite impressive until you actually look at what he is saying and realise he is just more eloquent than the other panel members. He actually had the brass neck the ither week to berate one of the politicians for being too interested in their image - this from a man who seems to not miss an opportunity to self-publicise. It's high time someone put the repulsive little man in his place, preferably by correcting him on some historical point for maximum gratification.

As RJS said, he seemed to like the sound of his own voice - he was very good at interrupting others. Iirc, he said that public sector workers don't create any wealth.

So I set off on my country leg this morning and realised that it was milder than I had expected. As I was overdressed I decided to take it easy so as not to arrive at the station in a (more than usually) sweaty mess.

Now normally I don't see any competition on that bit of my journey but given I was out for a pootle it was inevitable that I got some this morning.

I was waiting at some lights and then made a hash of clipping in just as a guy on a Trek timed his run up to the light change perfectly and got the drop on me. Quite a big gap, quite quickly. I had to work pretty hard to haul him back (on the drops for the next mile and a half, probably braking the no trying rule). When I got back to him I quickly calculated that I didn't have enough in the tank to make a convincing pass so I hung back a little until we headed in different directions.

So I'm stopped at another set of lights and just as they change a bloke on a cervelo comes past me. Unbelievable. Obviously I pick up the gauntlet this time getting back a bit more easily.

Suffice to say I wasn't a pretty picture by the time I reached the platform.

Flippin' typical: I spend £45 on some super toasty overshoes after a month of numb feet, only for the weather to warm up.

Ah. On that basis could you buy a hideously expensive waterproof so it stops raining.

I've moved back to short-sleeved jerseys and fingerless gloves. Admittedly I am wearing my superb new Biemme Super-Roubaix, ultra-toastie, thermal bibtights, but my top half is almost exposed to the elements.

    Please; not the sandals.

@JG - I'm very surprised. Even I'm out of overshoes (slightly enforced due to needing to send them back to CRC). However, skull cap gone and today was also the first day of the year with fingerless gloves!

Erm, yeah, aerodynamics. That's it, too. Gotta think of the Watts saving... Will someone think of the Watts! (May have been reading the Cig ban in cars thread too avidly)
