Full on pootle this morning. Along with a few other roadies. I think everyone was just soaking up the sun. What a great ride.FCN 2-4.

Tonight, I saw the same drafting fairy on the Giant that I saw yesterday morning. He was drafting again. I pootled, apart from the NKR. Cheerio.
And then I let him go and he had 150 yards on me going into Queen's Ride. That was -5 yards by the top of Bolan Bridge.
I let him go ahead (but not "go") after that, but my work was done.
Knew you couldn't last a day
I couldn't resist. I tried, believe me, but I couldn't. Not in this particular situation. :twisted:FCN 2-4.

Bit chilly in sunny Calne this morning at 7.00 ish but what a crackerjack of a day.
Got out of the house a bit ealier this morning so I could come in the longer way and was head down fighting the wind for most of the trip. Loads of bloomin' slow traffic through Devizes and Melksham and one revolting diesel lorry that was spewing out filth for about a mile in front of me all the way from Melksham to Attworth - YUK.
As the counterbalance I was waiting at the junction to turn right down the hill to Devizes after N Wilts GC watching a couple of hares roar around a field after each other and it seemed to be just for the joy of it.

Had to take the train this morning
At least I'm back in the saddle this evening albeit on the older bike.0 -
Someone said hello to me at the traffic lights near jamaica way this morning was on a hybrid/mountain bike thing... anyone? Was a little confused as it wasn't one of the two treks mentioned earlier and you know obviously you cant talk to different types of rider
Dropped a roadie in rapha gear even had a rapha bag too as I went past he either dropped his head to check the speed or kick on... either way I was long gonePurveyor of sonic doom

Quick chap on a tourer (I suspect, drop bars but with wider tyres) was obviously up for a bit of pain this morning. Although technically below me in the FCN he was still giving it some down past Clapham Common and towards Stockwell :-)
Pretty much all I have to report for this morning......0 -
Really quite annoyed that I had to get PT this morning. It's glorious, albeit cold, out there.
Had a crap day at work yesterday and got home at 11. Just before setting off I noticed my rear wheel had two loose spokes. Dammit, they're those mavic bladed ones, too. Need to work out how to tighten those. Overslept this morning and the Pearson has a puncture I've been meaning to fix for a week or so... at least I got a seat on SWT0 -
What a lovely ride in this morning.

does anyone get any racing around birmingham, maybe going into town from kings norton way. the only people I ever get to race are old people. I even some days leave at normal commuting time on days off trying to find people
its just not fair!!

Was that you on the wasp-coloured Condor? The one that changed up and passed me round Holborn way as my legs spun out? I can't pedal any faster than that *sob* - my legs start to unscrew at the hips. Anyway, nice one!

Nyloc sounds about right. They're a bugger to tune apparently.
I may be able to help with the wheels...FCN 2-4.

Lovely weather, but my Endura Strike gloves seem to have stopped keeping my hands warm. Really quite uncomfortable up to Tooting (also saw someone riding without gloves at Tooting Broadway ).
Nm, to use DDD's brother's parlance, after that bar a leftward drifting taxi coming off Blackfriars Bridge (Lots of hand waving, angry stares to point out that she was cutting a whole group of cyclists up by drifting over the cycle lane) and a big black Merc that pulled out of Timber Street onto Baltic Street East without looking. So much for safer back roads.
Did see off a chap in civvies on a flash Pinarello on Clapham Road, but he was just pootling.
EDIT: Just remembered, I did crank it up to 29.5mph just past Stockwell. Quite pleased with that given I was not really on form this morning.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Seriously.
I was rocking 28mph along Clapham Common and you were pulling away like my speed didn't matter.
You are awesome. Faster (well more powerful) than ever I'd say Much fun.
Once again you've one my vote for SCR of the year.
My speedo clocked 30.5 whilst I was in pursuit of that guy way ahead of us as we started by the Common
Are you often along there around that time as I *might* bump into you again this evening as I'll be hitting it around that time again :-D0 -
I shortened my commute by a mile so I could go hill climbing, such a beautiful day great views best of all my legs felt great, it's gonna be tough not to cycle tomorrow.
I hate sitting in the car as we visit family knowing I could have cycled

I usually come in from my girlfriend's out in hertfordshire on fridays, will say hello if I see you during the week... good ride this am but sooo cold, I left at 7.10 am, and just before leaving when i was filling up my water bottle having got the bike out of the shed there were bits of ice floating around in it...
but i managed not to slide on any ice so all in all a good ride in0 -
Richmond Park was beautiful this morning, all white over with the Deer grazing on the rugby pitch, couldn't have asked for a nicer commute.
Everyone was pootling this morning; There were 5 of us pootling between Priory Lane and Queen's Ride and when I took off from the lights at a reasonable gentle pace I would have expected at lease one of them to go past me, but no.
The only blackspot was the weaving nobber on a red tyred fixie who was all over the place going up URR and over Putney Bridge, running every red light on the way.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Anyone know if the park is still closed overnight? I've been leaving at 6am this week and was tempted to give it a try this morning seeing as it was so nice.0 -

I wish you'd all stop saying how easy you were taking it this morning - I didn't pootle, I was awesome AND I would have been awesome even if everyone else wasn't pootling*
