Anyone who wants my scalp this morning is welcome to it, i'm toast.
I put way too much effort into the last 7 miles including two big hills on ice carrying my laptop 50 innertubes a spare tyre, 2 pumps many many co2 and my work clothes.

Yesterday was my recovery day and I think it showed. I'd have been like badly made porridge yesterday but managed to hold my own today. Spied another fast slicked mtb on a rather bright orange and white frame. Other people seem to be cottoning onto the idea of getting muchos amusement by scalping roadies on them

I've been away on a business trip and before that was ice bound (if my boss is trawling this forum - cough ahem)...
For various reasons (none of them good or "manly") today was my first ride in of the new year.
I can attest that a diet of animal protein and and exercise regime of having the remote handed to my fat idle hands is no preparation for the game.
The goose was delicious however and Old Speckled Hen is not only delicious but can be purchased by the case from Majestic.
I have out on 2 kg and my bike speed is "Grandmother".Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

I believe there are a few LB Sprint guys on here, Roastie often comments about the ride over there. As of yet I don't think I've found any other fellow forumers whilst crossing.
I don't think anyone has every caught a tow of me yet and I've certainly never been thanked for one but I have been informed by other people on here that I make a useless wind break so that might be why!

there must have been about 12 SS/fixed riders on the way home last night all duly dispatched at least half were fixie skidderz and certainly don't get near counting. I even saw one with a hermans lollipop (You're right Biondino SS bikes aren't cool)
this morning was pretty damned quiet untill I saw a little chain gang ahead 4 roadies and a hybrid flogging himself to keep up, I up my pace and pass the 3 drafters, the lead guy has spotted me and makes a break for it I'm gaining on him but now we're back into traffic and the opportunity is gone..damnitPurveyor of sonic doom

Very little in the way of compo this morning, a couple of roadies but they weren't playing, one even had a mirror attached to his drops - not the done thing really! Traffic was pretty snarled up. Don't think I've seen any forumers yet.
Also to the bloke on the red roadie with Castelli gloves that I took a bit of a tow from last night - embankment to Chelsea Harbour, thanks fella (and sorry), I'd had 3 pints and was feeling a little lazy, still got home in time to eat my kebab while it was still warm. Which way are you heading over LB? I go North to South and have never encountered a fast mover!! Its always fun giving it some poke and overtaking the busses but some two wheeled competition would be good.....http://www.ledomestiquetours.co.uk

I'm heading South-North of a morning, the buses and scooters can be fun but I don't usually find to many quick riders with the SS panniered guy this morning probably being the quickest I've meet all week!0 -

Bumped into Mr66 this morning just after Westminster. Good to see you back on the bike
I've been getting into work a bit after nine lately, which normally means very few other cyclists. Not today! Masses of them. Most memorable was the fixed rider who rode like a tool across the crest of Putney bridge and then "freewheeled" the downslope with feet spread wide off the pedals. Much head-shaking..
Got a great tow off a lorry along chelsea embankment all the way to the dsc. Got a bit of a shock when he did an emergency stop when someone cut him up. Good job the change of brake-blocks did its thing...0 -
OK firstly, my right ankle has been hurting me all week. Secondly, my left ankle has felt worse than my right one. Thirdly, after riding it hurts to walk on said ankles. Lastly, I should get "man-points" for that. Finally keep that all in mind as I tell you this.
Yesterday around 7.30pm I'm riding in the middle ring and testing my ankles along Kennington road. I'm dropping people left right and centre and eventually turn onto Clapham road where Oval station is and continue the "onslaught of droppage". It wasn't much actually being able to get the bike to 20mph was achievement given the restrictive pain.
I get to Stockwell tube and see some shapely thighs astride a womens Giant SCR3. Same bike as mine in sky blue. Not sure what tyres she had but she had the original wheels and her Cateye front light was facing straight down, purposely so. She was nice looking, blonde hair, Pearl Izumi tights and clippless shoes (probably of the SPD nature). Not one to under-appreciate true beauty I take every detail in until the lights go green.Oh! So this must be your winter bike then?
Bam! All the people that managed to catch up with us while stopped at the lights were in another freaking time zone. Between the crossing and the road ahead she must have been nearing 20mph, I can't do that in my car. This girl was f*cking awesome. I couldn't truly catch her, certainly not without feeling blood where my ankles were. Going up the slight incline she showed no sign of faltering. Lost in the delirium of her speed I imagined that sex with her would involve losing some part of your soul. She turned of right somewhere between that thought and me simply thinking thank god.Food Chain number = 4
A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -

On the way to see my wife had my first SCR of the year (and frankly a lot longer than that)
as I was waiting behind traffic letting cars out, making right turns. a MTB/lycra shoots though the left, (bad move traffic can't see you).
after the car ahead as let some traffic in, we get moving again, I can't see him but I can see his position as vans etc are moving out to pass.
he's a few points below as he's in bike gear etc, while Im on a wreak of a bike in normal clothes.
but he's a kerb hugger and not travelling that fast, I'm slowly gaining so I give it a bit more, and make possibly the slowest SCR overtake in history think 15mph than 30mph.
he doesn't look wildly happy about this but while he isn't far behind by time I slow for more traffic he doesn't overtake, and we go our separate ways at hampton court.
hardly the greatest action ever, but makes a change from overtaking young ladies on pink bikes with solid plastic wheels I guess!0 -

I'm tempted to re-route over London Bridge in the mornings as I do miss the sprints, but I did get hacked off with the traffic up Moorgate and I would also miss out on Kennington Road, which is a much longer stretch of eyeballsout (assuming someone doesn't trigger the pelican crossing).1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! BTW I'd love to give DSC a try as well, but that really is an excessive detour. Kicking myself for not riding this route when I used to live in Putney.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Thinking of altering route home this evening, avoid hills in Crystal Palace and take on the Embankment/NKR right upto Wandsworth Bridge :-)
Edit: Just checked the route on BikeHike, will not only add the hollowed SCR battling ground to my commute but also a whole 5 miles extra!0 -
